have i got my settings wrong, I am sure you could hide threads with out opening them??
but I can't, and so to hide the one that mentions something so awful I want to hide behind the chair........I have to open it

are you on the mobile site? this is one of the reasons I am solely desktop now. If you go back to desktop the hide button is still next to the thread title.
