Site stuff

Why are we allowed to namechange? And it has just been made easier to do so within the thread

Just out of interest really.

You can't do it on other sites can you?

I know people like to change for privacy reasons but it just cause misery with people name changing to cause shit.

And the new button down there V makes it possible for someone to really easily sock puppet. I don't see the point in it really.

You have not allowed name changing in the mumsnet local site, however you do still permit users to namechange on request. I wondered if there were plans to introduce that here or if it would cause outrage (who am I kidding, if course it will). Grin

I think the mobile site has to exist because the app is a bit rubbish really (for those who are used to full functionality). Sorry techs.

My understanding of PMs and namechanges.

I have previously been TrillianAstra, and now I am Trills. Both of those names are linked to my account.

If I send you a PM, it will say
From: Trills
To: Yourname
because that's who I am right now.

If you send a PM to TrillianAstra, I will get it, and it will say
From: Yourname
To: TrillianAstra
so I can see which name you sent it to and reply accordingly.

If I hit "reply" on that message, it will come to you and it will say
From: TrillianAstra
To: Yourname
because I repied to a message that had been sent to TrillianAstra

Nobody's "other names" are revealed by the PM system. They have thought about this very carefully.

@HeartsTrumpDiamonds

So, boringly back to the thread for a minute... If I send a PM to someone who has NC'd will they receive it if they have changed back? If they reply, what name will the PM come from? What if I have NC's in the meantime?

AFAIK, PM's are attached to an account, not a name.

So if you sent a PM to me, KateS today, but on Sunday, I changed to Englebert, I would still get that PM, because the day on the day you sent it to KateS, I was still KateS.

But if you sent a PM to KateS on Sunday...it wouldn't reach me, because I would be Englebert.

But if I replied to the PM you sent on Saturday on Sunday, it would come from Englebert to you Hearts. Because I'm replying to you, it shouldn't matter if you NC, because it's linked to your account.

BUT if on Sunday you NC to Humperdink, and I try to message HeartsTrumpDiamonds, not within a reply....it won't go anywhere.

So that as clear as mud? Good good!

Will double check what I've just told you is correct!

They gave it to me pre and post-op, compared to the morphine they prescribed me post c-section, it was like magical fairy juice. Very glad it is so hard to get hold of or else I imagine I would do little else!

That paramol stuff in the black boxes is great for headaches.

I sent dp out for some once, it had been withdrawn from sale and he came back with normal 30p paracetomol.

I cried.

I read that fentanyl is 100 times better than morphine.

But also you would have had to have been bloody ill to have it prescribed so I am not really jealous that people have had it much

I have got loads of Naproxen. My dd takes it for her dodgy knees, didn't know it was feminax.

Maryz if you want me to buy some feminax and send it to you pm me.

Ah, show of hands, if I had a unicycle, it would be winging it's way to you as I speak.
And sodium napraxon only became available otc in the last six months. It's what I took prior to having my coil fitted. I would highly recommend it.
Did I mention I worked in a pharmacy? It's why I know all this stuff.

My Grandma forgets if she's got any codeine in every time she pops out so she gets some prescription only stuff from the pharmacy and puts it in her cupboard. She currently has 8 full boxes of super strength co-codamol. Every time I visit she gives me a carrier bag full of fusty sweets, a packet of questionable biscuits and a box of drugs. I don't take them, they don't agree with them. So I put them in the cupboard. I'm willing to swap them for a unicycle. Shut up. It's my drug of choice. Only, I can't quite get my hands on one.

Dropyour, you need to pick a name you have already used.

Report
BrightSunshineyDay · 27/09/2013 15:10

DropYourSword I think it has to be a name that you have already nabbed? Hope that makes sense.

Hearts I'm pretty sure yes they will still receive your message and when they reply the message will be from the name they have nc too. Hope that makes sense also.

Not good at explaining sorry

First attempt at NC to see how it works

Yep, didn't work for me either. Just says I don't own the user name. Definitely picked something no one else would have chosen. So how do you do it?

I have some....

Vicodin
Diazepam
Ativan (lorazepam)
Paracetamol with codeine
Some other stuff that you shouldn't take unless you are epileptic or bipolar (sodium valproate and quetiapine)

And for the truly committed, some haloperidol.

Also copious amounts of alcohol for self-medication.

Completely pointlesss contribution have no drugs to swap apart from teething granules - but I have just switched to the mobile site on my laptop. Much prefer it, though it is a lot wider isn't it?

Cunty co-codamol doesn't have caffeine, you're thinking if something else. Co-codamol is paracetamol and codeine.

Maryz if they sell (in the UK) what your DD needs I'll happily send it to you.

Report
BelleOfTheBorstal · 26/09/2013 23:25

They withdrew the original type in 2010 but there is no reason why the boots own co-codamol wouldn't work in a similar manner.
As for stuff which is more fun useful, don't think I can help there.

Co-codamol only worth wine on prescription strengths!
