The Talk Roundup should be really fun this week. Hmm

I often think some of the cleverest, funniest things said on here are things that it would not be polite or advisable to repeat. It must be such a dilemma for poor Aitch. Grin

Do you think somewhere in mnhq someone is fretting about whether that should be quote of the week.
It is fab.

I know I'm terribly jealous of arteggs' touch of the sunset boulevards, I shall nick it for rl use.

Enough with the drama queen film references now - I can't keep up!

Oh ok Hulls, I am glad that you have all kissed and made up. I think if you have truly good, close friends that you can be 100% yourself with then occasionally tempers will get frayed and stuff will get said - just like with husbands and children. It doesn't really mean anything. It certainly doesn't have to be the end.

It doesn't really happen to me, but perhaps that's because I am a strange, aloof enigma and commitment-phobe who never gives of herself wholly to a friend.

Either that, or perhaps they just don't want me. Grin

To be fair, Fell, they let themselves in out of love to try and make up, I wasn't in the mood to hear it tho so was all Baby Jane at the top of th e stairs...and she sent me a lovely email the followig morning saying she couldn't think what on earth had come over her re the cat.

Hully I know it's not funny really and I hate to laugh at the expense of your misery but honestly this has really made me snort. The image of you having a row with a friend over her cat, and then a gang of angry women letting themselves into your house to lay into you some more is really, really funny. Grin

Not to mention thoroughly NOT ON though. How dare they? Cheeky fuckers.

I want to be your friend in RL to see how long it takes me to fall out with you now. You'd have a hard job repelling me I reckon. I never fall out with anyone ever. Well hardly much, anyway. Not in a shouty way. Just in a 'you're irritating me quite a lot now so I am going to remove myself from your life by stealth and hope you don't notice what I did there' kinda way. I don't do shouty.

Even my German friend (who can be a bit too direct for my liking) cannot manage to repel me, because I know she doesn't mean anything by it, she's just a bit scarily German. Perhaps that's your problem Hulls? Perhaps you are German?

Funny I always thought of "You've Got A Friend" as a Carole King song. When a student a friend of mine used to play her version at high volume when one or both of us were suffering some male-related drama Grin

Zombie saw JT in concert about 5 years ago and she recalls him telling a similar story about You've Got A Friend, wigglesrock.

PS I know the thread is not really about James Taylor but it's not often I get to impart useless, probably incorrect info Smile

The Carly Simon thing/James Taylor thing Smile Carole King wrote You've Got a Friend but let James Taylor record it and he as my mil says "had the hit of it" and it caused bad feeling between them for a while. Now it is entirely likely that I have got this wrong but BBC 4 did this fab James Taylor night a few years ago and it always stuck in my head.

See, the idea of slow cookers gives me the gips. I hate stew and all "food soup" type meals. Food should require teeth. It should not be cooked until it can be gummed.

I don't like raisins, they have bits. Can just about manage sultanas.

I am partial to a pain au chocolat, though.
