Does anyone know anything about Hoover Soft Wave Auto-washer 1000?

Basically the pump on it has broken down (making weird noises yesterday when pumping out, today got as far as the first rinse and machine just died). Now my washing is trapped inside with the dirty water.

Normally one would take off the bottom front panel and there would be the filter, remove it to drain out water and voila, machine would open, right? But I've looked and there is no filter under the front panel, just a lot of rust! Does anyone know where the filter is please, or have any idea of what else to do?

I bought one of these second-hand. Do you have any further information about it in terms of problems that might arise and solutions.
Did you sort out the problem with the filter?
