As the Tiffin results day looms, a second 2019 SW London grammars and indies thread

A new thread to avoid the doomsday scenario of running out of posts as envelopes are opened on Friday, waiting lists move (or don’t) and e-mails are opened on 1 March.

Hi all! Bool I'm so sorry, I totally missed your last post in March. DD started WHS this week and is very happy. I'm so glad of the short commute and grateful to the experienced parents on this thread who said don't underestimate the importance. She's pretty knackered but seems happy.

Ah this is a lovely post! DD (mini Guinea Pig Wink) is very happy after first week at KGS. Made friends and enjoying lessons so far, coping well with public transport etc too x

MiniFlume is delighted with everything at the moment. I’m sure it can’t last, but from what I’m hearing the girls are friendly, the teaching is fast-paced (which she likes) and interesting, and the lunches are delicious!

School has started. Checking in to see how everyone is getting on and what the final decisions were. So far so good with PHS - mini Bool is very happy after the first 3 days. And DS has gone back to KGS very happily too.

@Sweetnhappy1 what did you decide in the end?

Report
Sweetnhappy1 · 15/03/2019 12:55

Callicarpa19 the deadline to accept state school places is tonight at 23.59 so there won't be any movement until after this.

Bool yes, Tiffin vs Wimbledon High. Difficult journey vs easy journey but obviously financial implications.

@autumnnightsaredrawingin yes! You can watch the whole drama unfold including the postman dramas Grin

@sweetnhappy1 what will throw it for you. Tiffin vs WHS right? Ooo I have lost track!

@Bool I can understand her wanting to have a totally different experience to her brother, I'm sure she'll love it! We did put a deposit down because we were (and still are) undecided.

autumnnightsaredrawingin Welcome! The first thread would be handy for you to look through if you haven't already. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/secondary/3347389-As-the-Tiffin-deadline-looms-is-there-a-girls-SW-London-grammars-indies-thread-yet

Watching this thread with extreme interest as we will be in the same position next year and many of the schools mentioned are ones on our list. PHS our top choice by a mile, really hoping DD gets a place...

Bool · 12/03/2019 16:23

@sweetnhappy1 mini Bool was super excited. I just think she wants something different to her brother honestly. Do you know now what you will choose? Have you paid your deposit?

Sweetnhappy1 · 12/03/2019 13:47

It's a great situation to be in Bool, how did your DD take the news?

We haven't declined the Tiffin place yet because we are still in a state of indecision. DD is adamant she'll have the final say but struggling to choose.

Bool Many congrats to mini Bool. You must be so relieved!! Wine time! so glad it is all sorted out at the end. Just heard an offer from FH's WL. It seems that WLs are still moving - good luck to whoever is still waiting!!

Thanks everyone :-). Just released the KGS place which was super hard to do as well as we love that school. Luckily we didn’t have to pay the deposit and they were lovely about it which just makes it all harder. Hopefully someone else will now be made very happy.

@Bool Congrats!! Gosh what a long process.
Are you going to think it over before contacting KGS?
All schools are use to it, a friend pulled out of a KGS scholarship (not academic) in mid March last year - she lost her deposit but it was the right choice for dc as other school that came in with late offer was better fit.
