Anyone else with a weirdly proportioned child?

And how did you get around such restricted uniform requirements without having them looked swamped or in stuff they consider too tight

I am going to get to do 're measure as i just have messed up as according to my measurements she needs an age 9-10 for length an age 7-8 for the waist and 5-6 hips.

Now I just have made a mistake but then this would also explain why despite numerous trouser threads and trying of different ones we have still not found one that fits round the waist that has the right length and doesn't have "saddle bags" either side.

I was hoping she could wear a skirt but that means tights and she can't really wear tights as they make her itch.(excema)

Trousers have to be the straight leg kind and there are no links on the site to anything that comes in a slim fit option but those are usually too tight around the crotch and bum. Plus she is a swimmer/gymnast so her thighs aren't quite as slim as the rest of her

Does Anyone else have trouble with kitting their kids out

God primary is so kuch easier no one complains at skirts that are too short or shirts that don't quite stay tucked in.

So how does everyone else cope with the restrictions on children with their own restrictions?

Webwentnon a bit of a try on today so i could guage some sizing.

The m&s trousers were a definate no as suspected. Awful awful cut and material distribution.

We tried some in the uniform shop which I think could be ok . They aren't the ones on the approved list however they must he ok.given they are from.andesignated uniform shop. Fit was ok except the size wasn't great but if I can add some belt loops or or get some added we might just be ok.

If I get any complaints I will be telling them.plain and simple they do not come in a smaller size so..

My son goes to a school with a very specific uniform, but has eczema. Polyester anything that has skin contact is a no-go, so normal school uniform was out. The uniform supplier was super helpful, we now have sleeveless jumpers, they embroidered other stuff very cheaply for us (£2 per item) etc. Try yours, the pay might be helpful (play up the medical need - eczema)

Are boys' trousers any better for the waist and hip measurements? I second John Lewis for longer length and smaller fit on the waist.

Have you tried the bamboo black tights? DD is rather sweaty of foot (she'd kill me for saying that!) and I got her the natural fibre tights and they seem to work well.

I'm sure M&S do long length trousers as my skinny ds2 has needed them in the past. He grew taller but not wider so these were fantastic.

I know the boys ones they wear now have a specially designed larger hem that can be taken down and is pre-hemmed for you. Worth a look to see if the girl's ones also offer this.

Maybe they all think if we ignore the human body when we make the clothes we can pretend that no one has one underneath

Even my "chunky" child needs slim fit - I honestly think it's all cut much larger these days. Like blazers one size fits all, even in Y8 the one to fit her arms was 3 chest sizes too big, still too wide at the end of Y11 and far too short in arm length!

We always have to size down on shirts too. I have a horrible feeling that if I buy the no idea in the hope it won't swamp her it's going to be too short to tuck in...

I possess a spidermonkey. We buy blouses that fit on chest but are too short for her arms and trousers that fit on waist but end 1 inch too short. Trying to get her to wear skirts.

Wool is def no no for my ds with severe eczema. Too itchy.

Not sure what's wrong with socks though. If you have gone the one supplier skirt route surely your skirt is fit enough for purpose that tights aren't necessary

She wears shorts under them anyway

I’m a teacher, and wear them most days in the winter. No one has ever commented on them, so if they are okay for me, I think they would be fine for school. They look like normal tights.

Dd is really tricky. She's above average height for her age (10) but is so skinny she can wear age 3 knickers and has some age 7 cropped jeans that are the best fit we can get but still baggy. The only adjustable trousers we find work are H&M skinny fit. Even Boden swamped her. No idea what she'll wear when she goes to secondary. Brownie uniform is also huge imo. She's in age 4-5 skorts and trousers didn't fit at all. Makes dd more aware of her body and feeling weird

Yes, my dd is 13 and tall and slim with a tiny waist
Her uniform has to be from the official outfitters so she can wear a skirt that fits or one that is long enough. The correct length almost falls off her and the correct waist is too short ( letter home from her form teacher). Im Ignoring it until September as she finishes in 2 weeks for the summer anyway

Black ballet tights, maybe? They are soft, seamless and don’t ladder easily? Dance Direct online, or s dance shop.

Leggings, black leggings and black socks. Tights are the devil's invention for anyone long-legged but slim.

No point buying a 24 as no growing room especially as it has to be bought earlier than id usually get so she will have to have a 26.

That's exactly it. By the time it fits around waist it's too short on the legs!
Leggings have been the saving grace . Asda did some stretchy skinny trousers which I thought would be fab but the 8-9 was so short I've kept them for her sister instead had to send the 9-10 back.

I have similar issues with my DD - she is very long legged, but very slim. Nothing ever fits her on the waist, and by the time it does, it's too short on the leg.

I don't really have an answer though - we end up either having stuff altered, or she has to wear belts or use a scrunchie to tighten waists.

It does feel like there isn't as much for slim kids these days.
