Hi Everyone.
My son sat for Westminster 13+ exam in November and he has been invited for the interview in Feb. I am not familiar with the interview process at all. I would be grateful if anyone would share their experiences with me.Thanks

They interview all boys again as part of the process but it's nothing to worry about - as long as he's made decent progress, does OK in the exams and is still capable of some kind of conversation he's in.

ginandsympathy I found it odd too. What does that mean? Does it mean even if they meet the required mark, still they may not get in and depends on the interview in May 2018?

No need to worry about the interview in 2 years time, it's more of a catch up chat. As long as your boy meeting the qualifying CE marks, the offer is pretty much in his hands.

Ours was also positive. What a process and what a relief. Letter does say something odd though about another interview in May 2018... to discuss what the boys have been doing to contribute to their school more widely. Don't know what to make of that?

WaitMaryWait Do call the school if you still haven't heard from them. They would send the result by email to you. I know how difficult is to be in dark.

When do we hear from Westminster l wonder? This is the last piece of the puzzle for us. Anyone's prep give them any idea if when it might be? Ours said "this week". Nothing in today's post.

the week beginning of 7th. so long. Unfortunately my DS couldn't get any 11 plus offer. I am so disappointed as I wanted my son to join his new school sooner to make friends easier and get settled better

Between 7 to 14 March you should be hearing back from Westminster for 13plus. Am afraid you need to pay deposit for your 11 plus offers though. How's the relationship with your school head, could you not able to ask him to call the senior schools to find out a little bit earlier or to negotiate another week timeframe for decision making?

We have done Westminster interview in February but don't know when we will hear of results. We have 11+ offers from good schools and we need to pay a deposit soon. Does anybody know when the offers are made from Westminster?

I don't think that the family background would be the matter at Westminster. It has certainly has changed now. They didn't ask us to fill any form and nothing about the family even at the interview.Ds just had been asked if he has any sibling.

That's the vision of last head Dr.S, can be all different game with the current head. My DS class certainly have a great mix of 10 different nationalities.

I don't think they are In practice keeping a very balanced international profile

I had forgotten filling in such a card. Hey ho - am about to start doing all this again so doubtless it will start feeling familiar soon. At least they don't interview parents, thankfully!

There is the card one need to fill it in about parents' job and the child's nationality, and whether single parent is the case, like who finance the school fees, etc. The great school is trying to keep a balanced international profile as well.

I don't see how the background of the family could or should come in to it. It isn't like St Pauls's where the parents are interviewed too. How would they know about the family?

Westminster School is certainly looking at the consistency of the ISEB results, in relative to headteacher report with peer group of the same school comparison ranking, and short-test performance, then interview impression, background of the family and current school type, and so weight in careful and balanced judgement. Even the under school boys are not all able to transfer, and they need to go through exactly the same procedure as the external candidates.

I doubt they do it all on the iseb. It just doesn't give enough differentiation , especially in English

Written exams are fine. About in the range of other very selectives. He found comprehension just about okay and maths no problem. Yes, it must all go on ISEB and we didn't prep him so l doubt he's a high scorer. Never mind.

Hi contraryMe . My son is having his interview next week, so have no idea how it is gonna be. will definitely let you know when it's done. I also heard that they more decide on the ISEB result rather than the interview. How did your DS find the written exams?

DS had his interview at W. Felt the exam beforehand went well but that the interview was very rushed and was feeling that the whole thing had already been decided. Perhaps they decide on the ISEB results, use the exam on the day to check for consistency and the interview is just a screening? Anyone else experience similar? We are still awaiting SPS interview date.
