When would you go back to work?

DS is in reception and I've found myself at quite a loose end at home. There is a local job which I could do part-time, school hours only but I'm hesitating with applying as the school holidays are 20 weeks of the year and I have no-one to cover... DH technically could, but then wouldn't have any days left for us to go on an actual holiday.

When would you go back to work? Initially I thought I would only be at home for a couple of years, but I'm not so sure now.

I would take a part time school hours job and figure something out for the holidays, being at home every day after school with your DC is great. Are there holiday clubs connected to the School?

Is there no suitable childcare around you?

Most people use a mixture of annual leave (both of you), grandparents, childminders and various clubs/camps. I think when you've been a SAHP you never really get into the 'habit' of using childcare, you don't already have a childcare structure in place so holidays feel overwhelming (especially such long ones-private school?). Do you want to go back to work? It will probably be another 10 yyears before your dc can be left alone in the holidays.
