Phil & Teds in snow?
elk4baby · 07/12/2011 17:42
How do they do in the snow?
I have a 2.5yr old (~13kg) and a 10mth old (~9.5kg) - would it sink in on snow/sand?!
HerRoyalNotness · 07/12/2011 17:43
they're pretty good, just take the wheel guards off, so the snow doesn't collect up in those. lock the front wheel and make sure all the tyres are pumped up well.

Are there differences in maneuverability and general well-handling between the P&T models?
Particularly, the ones that can found used?

if you are buying second hand i would only be looking at the sport or E3, as the later models have all had issues, but avoid like the plague the verve and vibe, hammerhead and explorer both had recalls for new frames, the dash also has had a recall, the sport v1 as far as i am aware was fine and i also think the sport v2 was, although they did issue gaurds for the locking part on v2, but that was more about getting your fingers traped. hth

I had the vibe the past two winters, last year with a 2yo and 3.5yo in it, I agree re, removing the mud guards and they handle snow very well. Loved my vibe fantastic buggy.

I've used a phil and ted e3/sport whenever needed in snow for past 5 years and always been fine (although sledge better ) deffo lock the wheel though
Moredofbumsnet · 08/12/2011 14:10
My E3 goes well in snow and is so old it doesn't have mudguards to remove.if you're buying 2nd hand then E3s are all pretty old now. There is a sticker on the side that says how old btw.

I have had 2 Sport V2s, both been fab. Fine in snow as a single, have not had any snow (yet) since dc2 born, but i guess its only a matter of time.

I found my P&T Sport V2 brilliant in snow but a bit tricky on deep, dry sand. It was fine on wet sand by the shore but tricky on the deep, dry, dune sand further away from the shore. I doubt that is down to the P&T though, I think most would be the same.
For snow never had a problem, lock front wheel, take off mudguards and ensure tyres are pumped and no problems.
