tfk twinner duo travel system

Hello I am currently expecting twins and need some help with pushchairs from anyone who has a tfk travel system.
I would like to know:

1. how easy is it to switch from carrycot to carseat and viceversa (do you need 2 different adaptors??)
   

1. can you fold it with adaptors on?
   

In general I'd love to know how easy is it to use, I was planning on using the car seats when taking the car for school run, short trips to shops, but use the carrycots for longer walks (and at home for napping)

Is this practical at all? I wouldn't bother if it required lots of swapping and faffing around!

To be honest, in my experience a lot of people do start out with one pushchair often a travel system for twins and then move onto a side by side later, or equally I know some mums (as I do) have walking pushchairs and car pushchairs. I hope you find the solution to suit you :)

It is just a shame that there isn't a proper side by side travel system for twins!

I'm now thinking probably to get a second hand tandem travel system, and then a lighter by side from 6 months.

But huge thanks again, I live in Italy and the twin range is rather limited, besides most shops operate on order only, keeping just a couple of models in the shop, so I have to get my info on line!

I think you could leave one car seat in the lower position underneath a carrycot on the Duet (I don't know about the Duo).

I had Jane power twin when twins were little in car seats then moved to the nipper 360.
I loved the Jane apart from I couldn't get bases for the car seats. But easy to but in and better for school run.

The Bugaboo Donkey is probably the easiest but the car seats add a total of over 30cms to the width making it over 90cms wide which is huge...not to mention the price tag! The Duo / Duet will fold with car seat adaptors in situ and I suspect are easier to deal interchange with the carrycots. The car seat adaptors certainly click on easily....and I am even pondering if you could leave the lower Duet (probably Duo too) car seat adaptor in place and still fit the carrycot above it? It may be something worth trying or asking about. I will have a look at my Duet in a mo and see what I think.

your answer is very informative, even though it confirms what I was suspecting, ie there is NO side by side pushchair with easy lock-in lock-out travel system (like you get with a single buggy, the likes of a pliko for example).

I do not know if can be bothered with all the swapping. Maybe I'll just give up on the idea of a travel system and resign to the fact that I'll have to move the babies from car seat to buggy all the time... (big sigh)

The TFK Twinner Twist Duo is one of the best side by sides on the market - really very good.
I don't know if I can fully answer your questions but if you are still stuck I can find the answers out for you.
To use the two carrycots you need to insert a long carrycot bar. To use a car seat you need a car seat adaptor(s) (there are loads to choose from). My understanding is that you would need to switch between the two, but equally you would need to switch between a carrycot bar and car seat adaptors with other side by sides eg the Easywalker Sky Duo. The carrycot(s) hooks onto the bar. The Mountain buggies don't have carrycot bars, neither do the Baby Jogger City Mini.
It's a while since I had the carrycot on. But my photos are here and what is crucial is the fold. The Twinner Twist Duo folds in three so the top third folds first downwards towards the feet. Then the wheels fold in underneath. So, the carrycot bar clips onto the middle third, so I would think the TTD will fold with the bar in situ. The car seat adaptors are staggered and protrude outwards. Certainly one sits on the upper third which folds down and will need removing and I am almost certain the lower one too will need to come off unless they lie flat or something.
The carrycot bar is easy to swap over. The 'problem' time, again as with almost all side by sides which need the fabric removing or partly removing to add a car seat on, is when you get to seat mode ie at six months. The baby may be in the car seat for another six months plus and then you wouldn't want to keep removing/ partially removing the fabric to use the car seat. But it's the same on the Easywalker or Duet. Most doubles with car seat adaptors involve adding them on. My only niggle really with the TTD is that it takes several steps to fold which involves running around the pushchair.
But the quality on the Twinner Twist Duo is very good. The seats are amazingly padded, the storage is good and it's very easy to push even fully loaded. It's probably my favourite side by side that I have used (out of the Nipper, Duet, Easywalker, Elite, BJCM). It looks nice and sporty / trendy / up to date too!
