Replaced broken fridge freezer recently with a Hoover model (HVT3CLFCKIHW). About £330. Nothing fancy. Spec listed noise as 39db.
However the motor switches off and on all day and when it is on, for up to an hour at a time, makes a buzzing hum. The pitch of it is unpleasant and I find it grates on my nerves every second it is on.
Store came round and told me that it's pretty normal. However I have had more pleasant sounding models before, and find it hard to be as dismissive as they were about it.
They did suggest it might be the difference between having a frost free (where you hear the fan) and this type of noise.... The sides of the freezer seem to be vibrating a lot when it's 'on' so this might fit.
I am worried that another model will have the same issue! Stores don't seem to rate this as important/to demonstrate.
So, has anyone brought a f/f recently that they would recommend?
Is a small flat - it won't be out the way in a closed kitchen etc.
UK.
Thanks for any help.

if its vibrating a lot have you checked to see if your flooring is perfectly level? Can you put a piece of cardboard under one of the corners?
Don't get a beko frost free, damn thing is on more than it is off, plus there is less room inside for food. Same size outside but can only fit half the food in.

Similar issue with a low cost Beko fridge. I wouldn't reccomend.

When did you buy it? We got a less cheapo Samsung recently and really noticed the noice at first. But now it doesn't seem to be a problem at all. It's possible we've got used to it but mostly I think it's just sort of warmed up properly if that makes sense? Took a couple of weeks but it was a relief as I could hear it in the lounge while watching tv and although it wasn't loud, it annoyed me.

I got a cheap Candy fridge/freezer from Argos last year. It is practically silent, barely ever notice the noise. Our older Becko on the other hand which is in the utility room makes so much noise
