We are considering moving in a couple of years so had a couple of agents around to value and advise what we need to do to get it ready for marketing etc.
One agent was insistent that we need to decorate our utility room before we market, the other thought it wasn't a problem. Dh feels it's a waste of time (but he hates any idea that means doing work or spending money ).
The utility is just off the kitchen, which was done a year ago (before we realised we might be able to move) and is granite work tops, neff appliances, Leicht units. Really lovely and a massive improvement on what was there before.
The utility room just off it has brown tiles all over, different shades on the walls and floor. My initial feeling was it would be disproportionately expensive to do anything about it and it's only a washing machine, sink, boiler and a downstairs loo off it (which I plan to decorate). I tend to chuck stuff in there and forget about it.
One agent didn't see it as a problem, other agent says it lets the whole kitchen down and has recommended we paint the tiles to freshen it up.
Would one room like this really stop buyers from seeing our house as 'finished' and put them off?
Houses on our road sell like hot cakes anyway.
