Don't expect anything to happen before Christmas. I have quite a few children I want to assess but with the best will in the world, the hours in the day are limited and the nativity has taken over...

Just mention in her reading diary that she is reading fluently and you think she's ready for another challenge. The teacher will probably re-assess her after Christmas and will move her up if she agrees with your assessment :)

It's only fair to point out that some schools have book band policies which have nothing to do with how well the children can read and limit certain colour band books to certain primary school years.

I don't know if yours is such a school, but if it is then I advise throwing all school reading books straight into the bin.

There is another thread at the moment and the YR teacher has said they only go up to red level in YR Hmm

I would advise not to follow columngollum's advice unless you have plenty of money to throw in after the books.
