Evening activities

I'm wondering if anyone can help, we are new to the older kid raising and are struggling for things to do as a family and friends on an evening.

We had planned to meet up with some friends and go for a meal then bowling or crazy golf with DS+his friend on Friday night. Kind of a delayed NYE as most are working this evening.

I went to book the bowling place we normally go and it is over 18 after 7pm, thought it was a bit strange so looked at crazy golf which is the same.

Where do preteens hangout? Supervised in bowing seemed an ideal introduction to evening entertainment but now I'm struggling! DS is never asleep before 10pm or we would see him again at 5am.

Id just give them a snack at home, do the activity and then go for a meal.

Do they have an age limit on other nights, or is it just Friday nights? I presume both have a bar/service drinks?

Flipping it might be the option tho hungry boys!!! Life seems to revolve around food times post Christmas! He's 9 and friend is 11. We can get into town for 17:30 ish so might have to be snacks at bowling followed by a meal. Ice skating might also be an option as it's open to families late.

We do all host quite frequently but we also like to do activities with them. Was looking more for a meal out and an activity instead of them eating then going to play some form of video game in the house. Even them using the air hockey table is usually with a go pro attached or YouTube on the TV! It's not a fight I'm willing to have so would rather just take them out. Will most likely end up back at ours afterwards at this rate.

Genuinely shocked how unwelcoming place are to preteens/teenagers looking at this, thought we were on the home straight of taking them out now! We've had loads of what I would call teenage hang outs open like laser tag, arcades, bowling, crazy golf etc in our nearest town recently hadn't realised they are excluding teenagers tho 😬

If you’re thinking delayed NYE, most people with preteens are socialising at home in the evenings. So it’s hosting at someone’s house for a party.

How old is he?

I think activity first before the time cut off and then dinner makes sense.

Or do cinema, swimming, trampoline park, games cafe, escape room or host something at your house (movie night, games night etc).

Wouldn’t you just flip the activities and go bowling or crazy golf and then a meal out?
