dd10 on day 41 of 3 rd period/cycle. pains but no bleeding, please put my mind at rest!

her first period was 10 days and agony right thru (when she was 9, 4 months ago)

her second and third were bang on day 28 and no problem.

this one as i said above had been on and off pain, for 2 weeks, very slight slight brown discharge in pants but hardly there iyswim. We are knicker checking, and holding sanitary towels up to the light, that's how slight!

In bed right now cramped up. if no advie, then a hand hold welcome.x

Hi piratecat, I remember we had cybercommunication when both our daughters had mesenteric adenitis. So sorry to hear of her current problems. Have you been to A&E with her? in my experience things get done (ultrasound/bloods) generally quicker that way.

the gp said there is no way SHE could take that decision, that it would have to be passed on to our local hospital D.

At least I get to go back friday, and the rate it's going dd will prob still be in pain.

The poor love. I can't believe she is still going through this and they won't give her the pill even though it would seriously help?

murmers of ultrasound, i think she will have put in a request to local hosp, just to check.

i guess the this particular cycle just needs to be gone. last night was horrendous, dd crying and screaming in agony. i enoucraged her, i said, don't keep it in let it out.

Last night she had paracetamol, ibuprofen, codeine, and the new one Spasmonal.

She only went to sleep through exhaustion. She is still asleep now, and i know that on waking the cramps will be there. Fingers crossed they won't be, but this is how it's been for 8 fookin days!!

back to gp today, as no sign of af, the pain is the same, so i can only conclude that the Mefenamic acid may or may not have had a jot to do with the lack of bleed.

5 days off school now, and no sigh of the pain stopping. Have been given a different anti-spasmodic today.

totally bewildered here.

No mine stopped the pain, not the bleeding. Fraid it was so long ago I can't remember the name. They probably don't even make them anymore

I used to get so ill - one time I was staying at my bezzies when we were students and she called the doctor because she thought I was dying

wonder if they were the same tilly, they have stopped her bleeding but not helped the pain! did they stop your bleed?

I used to have some massive horse-pills - oval shaped - when I was her age. Very strong pain-killers. They worked quite well when I took 2 at a time.

news from gp, Mefenamic acid can STOP bleeding.

this was my gp today. why the gp on tuesday did not know this i have no feckin idea. It seems like the best explantion. So we have to stop this pain killer, and rely on the BUscopan, and Codeine med we have. I am very loath to give Codeine, as my experience of this when they gave it to her in hospital 2 yrs ago (and it may have been a stronger version) was severe constipation.

It will be interesting to see if she has any type of bleed now.

I thought the Mefenamic acid was purely for pain, but no it can reduce bleeding too.

arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! in our case it's stopped. Nonethless gp has given me a swab to do monday morning, for any infection, and we may have to go for an ultrasound to check out her ovaries.

Poor dd was in agony last night and this morning, just like her first period 3 months ago. the next 2 periods were pain free. bloody things. (quite!)

anyhow hope this may help anyone else who does a search on mn for similar.

i feel for your DD, every woman knows how painful this can be, 1 thing i'll say in my experience is pills wear off, i had every pill under the sun for my periods (until i finally got put on the pill) and every one after about 6 months to a year wore off was a pain (literally) so just keep an eye on your DD throughout. at a later time if it persists think about the implant (i know will be in later teens) but for me that has stopped all periods... its heavenly, hope she gets over it soon

Yeah, give the EWO a kick in the fanny/goolies which ever is most appropriate.
I think it is so sad when little girls (and that is what they are) start their periods so early.
Look after yourself and your DD.

i have another meeting with the EWO on thursday, and so wanted dd to have clean slate for that. If not for her periods the last 3 months she would be ok.

The gp rang back and said they won't consider the pill for her just yet. It's understandable, i was just wanting to get this regular and less painful, only because it's affecting school so much.

I will tell the ewo on thursday i have done all i can, she does like to guilt trip me so.

hi. i took her to the gp today.

also have some buscopan now for the cramps. i rang school and explained to the head, as we have issues concerning dd's attendance and the EWO is on my back, which makes it all very very stressful.

Gp i saw is going to have a chat about her going on the pill, they would do is for an 11 or 12 yr old. I know she's young but if the pain continues like this, it's affecting her mentally and her schooling is suffering. She is tall for her age, and i hope they will be abe to help her for the pain. She has a young teens womb in a ten yr old body iyswim.

Aww she has my sympathies - I had dreadful periods from the day I started and had the horse pills too. My periods weren't all that regular at the start IIRC, and DD's (who started a few months go) aren't regular at all yet, though thankfully not so heavy and painful.

Maybe it would be good to see the GP just to put your mind at rest?

Firstly, with your DD's periods being relatively new I would say that they will probably settle down in time. I do hope so anyway, it's so horrible as an adult to go through all this let alone a child.

Secondly, I'm almost as south as you can get!!!

lol i was brought up here from a young age! i am very south.

we have been very careful with the tablets, and they do help. it's the lack of bleed. she has been so so tearful for two weeks, the hair, the spots. poor lamb.
thankyou for your input. i just want it to come. she is totally pissed off with it.

My daughter has missed the odd period, and we had all the signs period was coming ( moody, greasy hair, spots and some abdo discomfort). Do feel for her.
maybe go back to GP if tablets not helping

my DD was very regular when she first started but missed the occasional period, so the no period yet doesn't sound abnormal. But given the pain, I agree with mampan about going back to the GP just to put your mind at rest.
