Very Scared!

After being up half the night reading the forum ive finaly plucked up the courage to ask you guys for some advice. Bear with me its a long one but I really need to speak to people who know.

Im pregnant and going for my first scan tomorrow - at an abortion clinic. Now this was a bit of a knee jerk panic reaction however I have a feeling that Im going to be over 24 weeks. My last bleed was in april and just for 2 days but heavy. Since then ive had no more bleeding but because of being on the large side its not odd for my periods to come and go as they please. I have had absolutley no symptoms at all, no sickness, no sore boobs, nothing. Untill 2 weeks ago when I felt incredibly bloated and then wednesday when i had a leaky nipple. Took a pregnancy test on thursday and it was positive. Went to the doctors on friday and have my scan tomorrow.

Im 25, been in a relationship with my brilliant boyfriend for 5 years. But we are terrified. Currently living appart to save up for a house depoisit but I changed jobs 2 months ago and he was made redundant a month ago. Hes with his parents and im living with my nan as she sometimes needs help in the night if she falls etc.

If im correct in counting from my bleed in april that would put me at about 27 weeks.... so possibly no going back now! Which Im not entirely dissapointed about and neither is my OH, hes been lovely and less panicky than me!

My biggest issue is telling my parents. My mum is going to totaly flip and I dont want to ruin our good relationship especialy this close to christmas. Please say someone else has been in my shoes? Im so scared its going to ruin everything!!!!

I have just found this thread - congratulations on your baby girl Flowers

It was amazing to read your love and bond grow from the start of the thread. So happy now you have her in your arms rather than smuggled away in your tume.

My DS was 8lb2 and also struggled with contractions. He has been perfect ever since.

Enjoy you lucky woman

That was the longest 4 days of my life. Had my waters broken at 10am... Whole day of nearly having a c section but she held it together.

DD was born at 12:30am. Narrowly avoided a section cause her heart beat dropped with every contraction. But she's here! 8lb 2 and feeding well already

Ark, please don't worry about lengthy delivery situ, my sister's son was due 2nd Nov & arrived 13th. She had sweep & too much fluid round baby so went into hospital the Tues morning, was eventually induced & finally gave birth Thurs round 11am. Your daughter will come in time & my sister's little Brendan is fine, feeding well these days & was 8lbs when born. My little tyke appears to be massive already at 23 weeks, due 1st April and MIL says hubby was 22 inches when born (he is now 36 and 6'2" & his brother is 6'4" so trust me your labour should be fine by comparison (I'm 5'4" & was 5lbs when I was born, so am literally screwed, am gonna get as much pain relief as poss)!! Sorry about your Gran, hope you come to terms one day & your daughter helps you remember her fondly...

Some of the posts here are just heartbreaking. Partly cos I used to work as an adviser with 13-19s and helped many young parents / parents to be with Care2Learn forms, Maternity Allowance, etc and partly cos I am so grateful to have such positive role models and kind support myself. I am 38 and 23 weeks pregnant with first child, a son. I have married for 9 years and my husband and family are brilliant. I work, but money is tight as hubby qualified as teacher in July and I was breadwinner for many years before. Live in South East so still rent, cannot afford to buy yet as no savings. My sister aged 37 and had her first, also son, Nov 13th so parents v. happy. She miscarried last Sept at 5 weeks and I mc early Jan at 7 weeks, worst time of life, but everyone was brilliant! I was very down and started new job early March as at mc time was commuting four hours a day to work to put hubby through uni - did this for 3.5 years. I have lovely job near home & nice colleagues now. Itcwas diff time, even though I was 37, cannot imagine going through what you guys have gone through, but really feel for you all & want to say keep faith, things will work out for best in end & people who really care will be by your side (even if all you have are professionals paid to support you - they do care and think about you often). The story of the lady now 28, who coped so well at 17 and now has 11 year old, well you are just amazing and proof that things will work out in end!
