Reassurance needed- faint lines, spotting, ivf pregnancy and miscarriages : ((((((

Hello,

I need some kind words and positivity!!! Sad

I have had donor egg ivf in the Czech Republic and am currently 8 days past a 5 day transfer (13dpo) of some lovely embryos. So literally as my friend keeps reminding me- they have only been in my tummy 8 days!

Now on Monday (11dpo) I had some pink spotting when I wiped and this carried on to yesterday lunchtime. Nothing heavy or major, clinic stopped my aspirin and bleeding has stopped. Because I thought it was all over on Monday I did a test and it was positive- well, I was shocked!! Tested again Tuesday morning, Tuesday night AND this morning and they are all positive but faint and all still the same- no darker.

Did an internet cheapie tonight too and that is clearly positive although faint.

I have a hcg blood test tomorrow but I'm thinking that at 14dpo (4weeks pregnant by donors cycle) and with such faint tests, the level is gonna be LOW. And I'm so scared Sad

I have had 8 years of TTC, miscarriages, such sad sad times. And I really want this baby to stay but I feel awful that things look rocky already. The spotting and the faint tests. It's just all scaring me so much. If it was a natural pregnancy, I don't think I would even know at this stage!

I just really want some positivity and a hand hold. I feel so rotten.

I'm thinking about you and keeping everything crossed, I had stupidly faint tests and spotting and am now 28 weeks with an IVF pregnancy. It can work.

tame I found somewhere online a study about HCG levels and outcomes. Yes, levels of 70+ are associated with more good outcomes, but there were plenty of good outcomes at the lower levels too. Don't give up on your bean just yet. x

Everyone I have spoken too (uk clinic, Czech clinic and gynae ward) have all said it's too low.

Gynae nurse said she would count it as a negative Sad

I am retesting on Saturday morning.

It's much lower than I wanted.

Going home from work to piss on a stick, weep and eat chocolate Sad

tame I know you were hoping for higher, but you are well within the pregnant range. Do you get a retest in 48 hrs to see what the levels are doing? My clinic didn't offer this as part of the IVF package but I requested it (and paid for it).

I agree with val The important thing about the HCG levels is that they rise (I think it is double every 2-3 days). There is such a huge variance in HCG levels that numbers alone don't have much meaning, as long as they are over 5. The waiting is horrible though, I think I was in tears after my second HCG result and I worked out it hadn't quite doubled over 2 days.

When is the next blood test?

Tame please don't be dispondent. They are way over 5. YOU ARE PREGNANT...it will be the doubling they are looking for.

Look at the below stats for how varied HCG can be:

3 weeks LMP: 5 50 mIU/ml
4 weeks LMP: 5 426 mIU/ml
5 weeks LMP: 18 7,340 mIU/ml

7 8 weeks LMP: 7, 650 229,000 mIU/ml
9 12 weeks LMP: 25,700 288,000 mIU/ml
13 16 weeks LMP: 13,300 254,000 mIU/ml
17 24 weeks LMP: 4,060 165,400 mIU/ml

When I tested on the day the clinic told me to, the line was so faint, it was a bit of an anticlimax. We'd expected either devastation or euphoria, but were left feeling kind of Confused

I was never offered an HCG blood test, just kept obsessively POASing and the line never really got any darker. Still, there was a heartbeat visible on the 6 week scan and 1 year on, I'm sitting here feeding my beautiful daughter. So I'd say that the faintness of that line means nothing. Positive is positive!

Bugger- most likely this afternoon.

I feel soooo negative. These faint tests have just made me feel terrible. Sad I'm pretty sure that with such faint lines my hcg will be under 20.

Hope your blood test gives you a good strong result. This is my first test on the evening of 15 DPO. SOOOO faint! I'd had a BFN with FMU on 13DPO. Am now 33 weeks pregnant. Your tests look really good to me.

Remember those ic tests can take forever to get a darker line on. Good luck with your bloods today.

I stopped testing after the first blood test result. Because it clearly showed that the sticks meant nothing in terms of strength.

G'luck for tomorrow, tame.

After tomorrow's blood test, I'll try to
Breathe easy. Unless the level is low in which case I'll be spending my bank holiday weekend on google....

Another IVF'er here and totally understand how you feel. Currently 17 weeks and touch wood, all seems ok, but when I was at your stage, I did one HPT that showed I was pregnant and then the next day I did another test and the line definitely looked more faint (and DH agreed, it wasn't just my paranoia). I was absolutely terrified and convinced it meant it was a chemical pregnancy and wouldn't stick...but all as I said, seems ok so far. After those two tests I didn't do any more, it just got me too worked up.

For what it is worth, your lines all look good and strong to me, but I know it isn't easy to feel convinced or confident at this early stage. I found this an incredibly difficult and anxious time, you are not alone! Sending un-mumsnetty hugs your way and hopefully your HCG levels will be reassuring.
