Rantidine didn't touch mine, but it does work for some people. Only omeprazole has made any difference.

Wonder cure- go to gp, ask for ranitidine. It's amazing stuff, really works. I took 3 a day.
I also drank loads of milk etc too but the tablets really are amazing.

From my yoga class there is a move that really helps. Basically involves sitting on the floor facing the wall cross legged or on your knees, so that you can comfortably touch the wall with straight arms, then putting your palms on the wall and 'walking them up' to stretch above your head and holding that position for a while, before walking back down. Repeat as necessary. Might not be the easiest thing in the middle of the night but those in the class who suffer heart burn swear by it.

I'm now 36 weeks and I have worked out what gives me bad heartburn.

Eating Late makes it worse, as does eating on the sofa. Sitting at the table is better.

Eating sugary or carbs foods makes it worse.

I can't stand milk or gaviscon so I pop rennie tablets. Every time I have a bad day I think about going to the dr for something else but then the next day I wot suffer as much and I forget about it. Plus I figure I hopefully don't have much time left!

its likely to change that dramatically in a couple of days

Not true. Prolonged pain that feels like heartburn can be epigastric pain & your BP won't always be high with it initially.

Your bp CAN change drastically in a few days too...mind did.

Yeah, omeprazole is the miracle cure you're looking for! I had heartburn from 6 weeks with this one (never really had it before) and am now 35 weeks. Gaviscon wasn't touching it, nothing OTC was. Got an omeprazole prescription and it just went. Every so often I try going without it to see what happens but within a few hours of a missed dose, the poker in my throat is back!

I'm just hoping it is just pregnancy causing it and it goes after the birth..

Get yourself to the supermarket and get some of those kids tube strawberry yoghurts. Squeeze a good mouthful into your mouth and swallow it really slowly Smile

I discovered this at 38 weeks pregnant and it's brilliant for calming it just long enough to get to sleep slightly propped up.

I'm in love with omeprazole. Really helped me...I could barely eat anything before my doc wrote me the prescription.

Im definately making a trip back to my gp! Im not eating much as the thought of food makes the heartburn worse but im guessing the lack of food isnt helping matters either!

I had ranitidine prescribed.

Wonderful stuff.

Did the job, and kept it at bay for 24 hours. :)

Gaviscon is shit. Grin

Ah god ! I felt like I was breathing fire out of my nose - that wasn't heartburn there was a fucking volcano exploding .

Sleep sitting up.

Stay the fuck away from bacon and pastry

May the force be with you !

Gaviscon dual action were good.

I found gaviscon tablets to be better than the liquid.

Wonder cure is omaperazole from the doctors, I've had it 3 times and one little tablet in the morning keeps it at bay for the entire day (I had acid reflux at well).

Cezzieb · 16/02/2014 22:31

I found a glass of milk helped. I also ended up going to the doctors and getting a prescription for gaviscon (liquid is much better than chewable tablets!!!)

I found trying to sleep sort of sitting up propped on pillows helped a bit.
