Pregnancy

Just got a BFP but I'm on Depo

Title says it all.

I had my first Depo injection on 28th June. I was on one of the last light spotting days of my period. I bled for one day on the 5th July. We have a 15.5 month old DD, I'm not long back at work and to be honest I can count on one hand how many times DH and I have had sex since the injection.

DH is very quiet and probably more shocked than I am and we are trying to get our heads around it.

I know i need to make an appt with a MW, but How often do they give you a dating scan if you don't know how far along you are? I could be 4 weeks, I could be 12 weeks. I've put being tired etc down to being back at work. I had no sickness or major symptoms with DD so I can't even go by past experience to guess.

Sorry if I'm babbling. I'm just in a bit of shock.

Scabby, if we went by the "original" dates it world make me 17 weeks. Using the measurements from yesterday's scan I would be giving birth to a toddler not a baby! All measurements are off the chart ginormous for 17 weeks.

Crikey! fantastic thread! Congratulations!
How do your dates work out if you take the random days bleed as implantation and the period as your lmp?

Thanks for the update. Trouble is the dates are so unknown at the moment and sounds like the '16' week scan wasn't overly satisfactory, so there is a lot of guesswork. Try not to worry too much, i'm sure the next scan will clarify things and with all these pictures the baby might get a taste for modelling!!!

Had the scan this morning. Everything is there and working as it should however baby is very small so they either buggered up at the last scan and I wasn't as far as they thought, or baby is very small. I have another scan in 2 weeks to see if/how much growth there is.

Can't help worrying though I'm sure there's a simple explanation. Some of the measurements were off the bottom of the normal range they give and the head measurement they used to date me at last scan hasn't grown much.

Will see what happens in 2 weeks.

Congrats, was just saying the other day how great it would be if pregnancy was a lot shorter. I wish I'd made it to 16 weeks without knowing....that said I think I'd have probably got through far too many bottles of wine if that had been the case. I hope that your scan goes well.

Can't wait for the update!! Part of me is insanely jealous, time seems to go so slow for me. Although I don't envy the shock

Wow, what an interesting story! Sounds like the first sonographer was an arse and left you feeling pants for no reason other than they were an arse!
Good luck for tomorrow x x

I just wanted to come back to my thread and update a bit.

Tomorrow we have our 20 week scan (though I'm 21 weeks)

Im absolutely crapping myself. I just have this feeling that something is going to be wrong with the baby. Maybe because so little could be checked at the first scan. But there's just this feeling.

I'll update tomorrow when we get home.

ah this is great- im a bit tearful because I could almost write the same post as you (even down to thinking 'movements' were 'wind'!)

In total I had a 14 week pregnancy (from finding out to delivery)

Im utterly in love- honestly its the best 'surprise' I have ever had.

Thank you everyone. We are a both a bit Shock and Grin all at the same time. It would also explain why I was feeling those little bubble/flip flop movements that I was telling myself were gas. Nope, was actually baby!

Only 4 weeks to go until my next scan so will hopefully get a proper look at baby then.

My "period" I had when I went for my Depo was a completely normal period to me so had no reason to think otherwise. And I thought that the one say bleed I had a week later must have been the implantation bleed when I actually found out I was pregnant.

We won't be finding out the gender of the baby, same as we didn't with DD, so in a way a girl would be good as can reuse all DD's clothes. Either way though all we want is to see a healthy baby in 5 Shock months time.

Off to tell the FIL this morning and my mum this afternoon. My dad is working away abroad for another 2 months so have text him to see if he can FaceTime later on.

Many congratulations Smile

Wow congratulations! Its such a big shock isnt it!? I found out I was pg at 21 weeks. ( was on the pill and feeling like death, but after numerous pg tests and bloods they all came back negative so assumed I was just ill) imagine my shock when at my first scan, a weekafter having found out, I was more than half way through the pregnancym haha.

Great that youve kept everything. That will be such a massive help for you rather than rushing round like abheadless chicken. Hope everything goes well for you...how exciting!! :)

Congratulations Squishy!

Shame the sonography was grumpy, I suppose they can't do either of their standard sets of measurements at 16w, but still Hmm

Good luck with this pregnancy, a spring arrival is the best time IMO!

So does that mean you might have been pregnant before depo? This happened to not just one but two friends of mine! Meaning that both were past 20 weeks before they knew.

Wow what a surprise.

However, I know the feeling that happened with my first daughter, when I found out I was approx 12 weeks. When I had my scan I thought I Was 16 weeks turns out I was 21+5 Shock shocked was not the word lol!

IShallCallYouSquishy · 20/09/2013 19:26

Well, that was certainly an interesting appointment. Turns out I'm actually 16+4 ShockWas not expecting that! EDD is now 03.03.14

Came away a bit disappointed if I'm honest as sonographer wasn't exactly the friendliest with a great table side manner. When she saw I was actually 16 weeks she just didn't really bother. She took head measurement to check actual dates then said "can't do anymore you will need to wait until 20 week scan". I felt it was a massive imposition when I asked if she managed to get any half decent pictures we could have.

Hopefully 20 week scan will be a bit better. We are a bit shocked at being 4 weeks further than we thought. What a roller coaster 10 days we've had! We are going to tell our parents this weekend and think they're going to be just as surprised!

Treating ourselves to a Chinese tonight Wink

Pint of squash drank ready to pee in a pot. I'm going to wee all over my hand aren't I?!

Hopefully that will give me the "comfortably full bladder" they ask for. Don't they know by know pregnant women either don't need to wee or they need to wee a small river right that very second? Wink
