Im glad i started mat leave yesterday. No more commuting for me! Not feeling too bad at 33wks and enjoyed a picnic in the sun yesterday, although today feels much warmer and have mostly stayed inside.

Im also powering through washing all of the baby's things and getting them dry today. Wasn't going to do it just yet but thought i might as well make use of being able to hang it all outside. Just hope no-one lights the barbie!

I'm also enjoying the sunny warm weather, apart from when I'm in the direct sunlight in the middle of the day.

I admit I'm a bit restless at night and its not helping my restless legs, but I'm usually so cold that I'm soaking it up.

Nellysgirl I've been putting a baby bath filled with cold water and ice cubes next to the bed. Every time I feel a hot flush coming on I simply swing my legs out of bed and plonk my feet in the water for five minutes.

Another thread (I'm not sure if it was on MN as my memory is not what it was) suggested putting on a pair of wet socks, if you don't mind damp sheets. There is a strange sock shortage going on in our house at the moment as I threw them all away in a fit of odd-sock pique when sorting out the laundry a few weeks ago (with the intention of buying a couple of multi-packs from Primark) ... but I've found a wet pillowcase to be quite effective.

Alternatively, you could try leaving the bathwater to go cold after you've had a bath. I've done this a couple of times and have been known to come downstairs and sit in the bath in the dark at 3am!

I've also been daydreaming that I'm in Greece, on the beach front, eating Greek salad in between swims in the very cold sea.

sighs

32+5 here. I can't wait for DS to wake from his nap so I can get the paddling pool out!

I am fed up of it now. I have horrible hayfever today and sunburn from going outside for 20 minutes yesterday.

I'm sorry but I'm rather liking the fact the sunny weather has coincided nicely with my wind down to mat leave, I'm 35+5. Apart from a presentation to write I have nothing to do but mooch about in the garden/ lie in hammock/eat ice cream.
If I was working and commuting it would be a whole different story!

I?m LOVING this weather and so is my bump, who I?m convinced has growth spurts after a bout in the sun. 32 weeks pregnant and couldn?t be happier in the heat!! But like you WhatILoved, I must have been a reptile in my previous life!

One thing that helps, especially those of you stuck at work is to get your wrists under cool water for a few minutes. Its only a temporary refresh but does feel really nice for those few minutes.

That and as many ice lollys as you can eat Grin

I'm 29 weeks tomorrow, the air con in the office doesn't work, everyone else is moaning about how hot it is too!!! My feet are so swollen and have started to stay indented when i press on them. Great, only another month of this heatwave, God knows what august is going to be like. I am tempted to go and buy a small paddling pool just to sit in!!

I was going to start this exact thread over the weekend! I am really struggling too. Really feel for those of you living in a really hot country and those of you still going to work (I went on mat leave early partly because I am so hopeless if it's at all hot!)

My coping methods so far have included going swimming (for hours, if looking after my toddler) and going to a nice cool supermarket with a cafe!

Hate it! Thank god it was a weekend and I didn't have to get on the tube. I'm dreading tomorrow (although hopefully won't be as hot as the weekend). I'm seriously reconsidering my ML dates...

I can't cope with it anymore!!!! And work is the worst, my building is baking hot (although no-one else seems to think so!) and I am struggling to even walk and talk when I'm there!!

Any tips? Pleaseeeeee!!!!

Wow I can't imagine how pregnant women cope in the really hot countries!!
I'm in northern Spain and it's in the high 30s and I'm boiling day and night and also trying to entertain three year old dd in the house as it's just too much going out after lunchtime.
How am I going to get through labour in August in this heat?

Feel like a beached whale today, and ankles have swollen up for the first time. I love the sunshine normally but just can't handle the heat at the moment. It's impossible for me to look or feel attractive in this :(

Any tips for sleeping through the heat anyone? Bedroom is like an oven the last few days!

Amen. Hating it. Our front room is all windows and boiling boiling. Miserable and 36 weeks. So grumpy. And now allowing the toddler to play with the tablet, when I promised myself I wouldn't.

I have just left south west America where it was 49 degrees. Now I am back in England it just feels nicely warm. Although without air con in our home the nights feel far too warm.
