Hi all - it has gone very quiet on here! Hope you are all OK and progressing well!

I keep checking sporadically if anyone has posted... As for me - all well physically, my body seems to have bounced back really well from the ordeal. Only issue is now trying to loose that weight I piled on due to the all-day morning sickness Angry
We have a meeting with the consultant next week to discuss the test results from the miscarriage, no idea what will happen after that... I've been putting my head in the sand quite a bit about it all - I really don't know what we will do in terms of ttc.

Wishing you all the best for your pregnancies (secretly hoping I might re-join this thread at some point)!

Hi all first post! just found out we're due DC3 beginning Jan. Just 5 weeks gone & will be just turned 42 when baby comes all going well. We have a almost 7 & 5 yr old. We had been trying for No.3 but decided to stop last year because of my age but got careless so bit in shock! DH is delighted which is great & I know I am deep down too but am just so nervous & hope we doing the right thing having another one in the mix after this gap. I cannot wait for a scan am booking in privately for one at 11-12 weeks to get nuchal fold etc. (In Ireland so its not standard to get scan til like gone 16 weeks!). I had stopped taking folic acid, been drinking past 2 weekends (a lot!) & had a dental x-ray.

I am so glad that I came acrossed all you ladies. It is nice to read all of these comments & know other ladies are having babies @ 40. I am 23 weeks & i turned 40 in January. I honestly that I wouldn't have kids after 40 but I am glad so my 4 year old can have a sibling to grow up with. I did get rid of all my baby stuff so I am starting over. have any of you ladies used a carseat canopy? this is a free item & I only have to pay the shipping which seems like a great deal since I really don't want to spend a whole lot of money on buying all the baby items I will need. Any advice is great. Thank You!!!

I have had the worst possible news this morning.

When the consultant did the scan to prep for the amnio, he could not find a heartbeat. My baby has died.

I am in total shock. It was all going so well, and everything looked good at the last scan a few weeks ago.
They couldn't see any obvious reasons why, but he said that it might well have been that there really was a chromosomal abnormality that caused it. I will now go back in to take the first round of meds tomorrow, then going to be induced on Thursday.

It is all beyond my comprehension right now, I feel utterly destroyed.

I will now bow out and say goodbye to all you lovely ladies. I had so hoped that I would be with you for the rest of my pregnancy.

Good luck to every single one of you - may you all have healthy, happy pregnancies and lots of healthy, happy babies! xxx

Jbrd I hope the amnio went well this morning and you are safely tucked up at home by now. How long will you have to wait for the results? Am keeping my fingers crossed for you and hope for some speedy results to put you out of all this misery.

Hi there Mummytobe and congratulations on your pregnancy! You are on the home strait now! Sorry to hear about your previous losses, how horrible for you. Not long for your lovely baby to be with you now. I was also a secondary school teacher pre-kids! I'm sure you will manage beautifully once your baby is here.

Congratulations Irish and a warm welcome to the world to little Miss Irish! You have come such a long way, remember when we 'met' on the ttc thread?!
Hope you are enjoying getting to know her and all the lovely newborn cuddles.

Welcome louise and Mummytobe! Hope your pregnancies will be very 'boring' and uneventful - it is such a rollercoaster.

I am having the amniocentensis today at 10am - starting to get nervous now... I'm not too worried about the procedure as such, but the wait for the results is going to be awful.

Hi MummyToBe! Sounds like you've had a really difficult journey - u must be soo relieved to be at 27wks! How exciting! There are no instructions with any of them, so you're in the same boat as everyone else, and will be great! xx

Hell everyone,

I'm 42 and expecting our first child. OH and I have been together for 17 years! We have no other children. It's been a rocky road to get here with 5 recurrent miscarriages in the last few years and both set of parents passing away.

I am now 27 weeks and proudly sporting a huge bump! Really looking forward to meeting baby at the end of July. Pretty clueless on babies and parenting, my nephews are 16 and 14. I am a secondary school teacher but have little experience with small children Shock.

I am under consultant care and have another scan in two weeks time.

Congratulations Irish Flowers and welcome to the world Miss Irish! That's wonderful news and so glad to hear you went home so quickly. Enjoy all the cuddles!

PJ67 I think as htbfm says there are different policies on age in each area. Think 40 is generally a cut off age, and in my area they induce at 40, though the choice is still yours.

Hi Louise - welcome and congratulations! How lovely to be having a Christmas baby, the best present of all most definitely!

Hello
40 and this is my first child so as you can imagine I'm pretty clueless on the whole thing. We are both excited and just basically trying to figure it out as we go.
I'm due 27/12, so a Christmas baby. That's the present for everyone sorted :)

Hi everyone.
Just wanted to let you know Miss Irish arrived in the early hours of yesterday morning! We came home after lunchtime the same day and are enjoying settling into family life with the newest member of the family. She doesn't sleep much and wants to feed constantly but is utterly adorable!
