Fun with your bump

I'm getting a bit big and ungainly at 31 weeks but have discovered there is fun to be had with my sizeable belly.

Last night when the baby was active I put a tall plastic cup on my belly and lay down. The cup started moving - jerking up and down with every kick, and rolling about and tilting as the baby shifted in the womb. DP was fascinated and ended up addressing the cup like it was his progeny.

Mariah Carey drew artwork on hers.

Any other suggestions?

Was watching my bump kicking the TV remote off my belly last night. Very weird watching my bump move around!
I've tried the torch thing but maybe it's a bit early because it didn't work!

Ooh, hello!

I'm with you Renaissance - 'Oh he's kicking - quick, feel!' then passes an awkward minute with the person standing there obligingly holding my belly and feeling more and more uncomfortable.

I'm getting bulgier (if that's a word) - with bits sticking out all over the place. The latest fun is trying to figure out which bit is where...

I can't get my bump to kick more than three or four times; I'm sure everyone thinks I'm making it up when they try to feel and there is nothing there! Might try the torch trick later!

I used to like spooning DP so he got a good kicking in the back. Usually whenever I'd said the baby was kicking lots, it would stop when DP put his hand on my bump. lying on my side usually got DD moving and DP got an idea what it felt like. I miss all that actually...

I used to drink ice cold water to make DS wriggle.
Havn't felt DC2 move yet though.

When I was pregnant with DD2, DD1 loved poking the baby so the baby would poke back. It was the first thing she said when I told her that DC3 is on their way and I can't wait!

Shock at Curleywurley.

That's a good story to trot out at future gatherings (especially when your daughter reaches that awkward adolescent stage).

I try to tickle my LO's feet when it gets to aggressive kicking me in the ribs. It seems to like that.

Ok this is going to sound incredibly strange but bare with me lol! I worked at Ann Summers when pregnant with my daughter and on one long and boring shift the girls at work decided to torment my bump with vibrators!!! When we held the vibrator gently against my bump my daughter would kick that area of my tummy and when it was held against another area of my bump she would move and kick it again!!! Strange I know but very funny at the time xx

My DH reads the bump a story every night and we try and guess which animal was today's favourite by when the wiggles happened.

My 2 ds like to play different kinds of music to my bump to figure out what it prefers.
Ds1 (who's 8) is trying to get baby in to Hip Hop whereas ds2 (5) is more of a Foo Fighters fan! ... Baby just likes dancing to whatever!

Think I might get some face paints this weekend and let them decorate the bump too.

I used to provide shelter for rain-soaked children under mine. And later when it was preposterously large, criminals on the run.

Great fun.

I've been trying some of these and the tapping has worked! However, whenever DP talks or sings to the bump it goes quiet. I work with two very loud/vocal men and the baby does seem to move a bit during the day, so I think it is confused about who its father is...

Friend had an amazing henna tatoo on hers.

LOL at vj32 my parents went to see the film of "The Battle of Britain" the night before I was born - 7 weeks early - mum blames my dangerously early arrival on all the gun fire.

TBH I just like watching it move! Am 29 wks now and the seismic shifts of my entire belly just make me giggle constantly. I just can't understand why DH isn't as fascinated as I am!

We do the tapping where baby kicks thing & baby usually responds. :)

DP also loves getting right close to my bump & talking to the baby "Hello Baba, it's Daddy" .etc & baby has fun kicking like crazy or trying to turn round to get closer to him (presumably to hear better?) I have since told DP he is only to do this when talking to the bottom of the bump as I'm nearly 33 weeks & paranoid if baby (head down since 28 weeks) turns it might not be able to turn back! Confused

The last few days we've had fun with asking my bump silly questions, I got up the other morning & was cold so I said something like "ooh chilly bumpy" and DP asked bump if it was a penguin which provoked a big kick - cue "Pingu Baba" as a new nn! Grin

My book usually gets kicked off too pink!

My little one must just be really contrary, as I've tried most of these games with the bump, and it just stops moving completely. Normally it's active nearly all the time- the little so-and-so Grin.

I have noticed, though, that baby doesn't like it when I'm reading and rest my book on the bump- it soon gets a swift kick back off again! Also seems to like football, as every time I've seen any on TV baby goes crazy whenever a goal is scored, or the ref makes an unpopular decision, and the crowd noise gets louder! I may have a little hooligan on my hands!
