Potty training help

Started potty training with my 33 month old today. Refused to even sit on the potty.
Had 8 wees where she wet herself and just stood in a pool of wee.
The first pair of pants took me 30 mins of convincing before could get them on.
Luckily i managed to 'catch', yes catch the poo to drop into the potty.

We have seats for the loo, travel potty, books about it, loads of pants, sticker reward chart.

I was expecting to give it a good 2 weeks before things settled down, but seriously is it gonna be like this every day for ages now?

Any experiences, ideas to help please
Grin

33 months?

If she's not ready she's not ready.

The first few days are rough. The first few weeks are less rough. DS would have an accident most days until 4 months. We’re about 5 months in at its 50-50 as to whether he has an accident (usually tired, but often just a dribble). Girls apparently catch on quicker than boys.

Have you gone straight to undies from nappies/nappy pants? Are you sure they're ready?

Try going bare bummed (e.g. commando under a dress) for a few days before commando under joggers....then introduce knickers.

And over celebrate any amount that lands in potty or toilet! My little one loved a potty dance with anyone who was nearby to celebrate with us 😂

Good luck

Ideas to help: stickers to decorate the potty for every success, over enthusiasm, books, pretend play. Training pants may be worth considering if out and about.
Children take an average of 6 months to crack it. ERIC offers great advice too.

Doesn't sound even a little ready to me. Why put yourself and her through this? She can't do it yet it's fine. She is no smarter if she gets rid of her nappies at 2.5 instead of 3.5 same way you are not a smarter/better parent if she is nappy free before 3.

I would have a break and try again in the summer. There's no rush, it'll happen when she is ready. And it'll be easier in the summer as you can leave pants off and have potty in the garden etc
