I've potty trained a boy which went surprisingly well!!

My daughter keeps telling me she has done a poo when she does one, could I start potty training ?

I got the potty out just so it's visible to get, and she loves to sit on etc , but any advice would be welcome !

Thank you

Of course you can. I don’t see how potty training boys and girls are different?

@Wictc never said it was different, was just simply saying. My son was 2 when I started with him.

1.5 to 3 is the common age for potty training, so yes at nearly 2 that sounds unremarkable. Who suggested to you you should wait longer?

Can she pull her pants up and down? That's what's holding me back with dd2. She's been asking for and using the potty since before she could walk, but she can't do pants yet. Her big brother was a very different story and refused until 3.5!

Can she express a need eg hungry or thirsty and follow a 2 step instruction like get your shoes and coat? If yes then you could certainly give it a go. If not yet then I’d wait. It’s not just recognising when she’s had a poo because even newborns know they’ve pooped and will cry! It’s the recognising a feeling, communicating it and then being able to follow a multi step process. If she can do this in other areas you’ve probably got a decent chance of success. If she can’t yet then she’s probably not ready so revisit when she’s 2-ish.

We did baggy joggers and underwear a size too big for a bit. I think it’s much harder with girls clothes because a lot of them are so tight like leggings and tights.

Absolutely! Go buy bundles of knickers; they sold them when my LO was 2y in size 18m-24m. She is 16y now (potty trained at 21m) My son was potty trained at 19m.
