Suddenly scared of toilet - I’m going crazy!

My 3 year old has been potty trained for about 6 months. She picked it up well and it’s been a very smooth ride. Never had an accident etc.

However recently she had a bad experience with one of those motion sensor flush loos. It kept flushing when she was on it which absolutely terrified her. Now she will only go to the toilet at home. She goes to preschool three days a week for only a couple of hours and she has refused to go there too. Whenever we have been to the shops etc and we try and take her to the toilet she has a full blown panicky meltdown. Even if it’s a normal non sensor loo. I’ve tried reintroducing a reward system but she just doesn’t care. She will just say that she doesn’t want the reward. We’ve tried everything we can think of to make her feel comfortable. Now she won’t even use her travel potty which involes no actual toilet at all. She just wants to go at home. What do I do!?! We go on holiday in a few weeks and I just don’t know what to do.

Honestly, I'd put her in pullups for the holiday but continue to encourage her to use the toilet, the very last thing you want is her holding.
You might find she will forget the experience if you don't pish things.

I really don’t want to put her back in nappies and even when I’ve reached despair and have offered them to her she refuses.

Could you reside her and tell her no pressure for now, then spend the time bigging up how the holiday toilets will be like the ones in your house and oh how exciting it'll be for her to be able to use toilets again while you're away.

It's the sort of thing I could imagine my 3 year old lapping up and jumping on board with without realising the logic flaws in it!

Silly auto-correct, reassure not reside!

Hold on, captain kirk and Spock have come together to have a chat about potty training Grin

The problem is it seems to have turned into a power battle, the more you push, the more resistance you will get.
You need to take all pressure off for a while.
