Potty training

Do I give up? Can't take much more poo in pants!

Hi, I've been potty training my two and half year old for a few weeks now.

He won't say when he needs a poo or a wee and so I'm constantly having to put him on the loo (for wees) or on the potty for poos. I can wait a long while for him to do a poo on the potty and when I give up and put his pants back on, you can bet that's where he'll do it.

I just can't bear more poo!

Is he just not ready, or do I just need to keep going until he gets it?

If he never initiates and has loads of accidents unless you put him on the loo I would drop it for a few months. I realize I was lucky, but I did this with my 4 dc all around age 3, they all gave sit they were ready and I had hardly any accidents with any of them - with 1 huge exception - dc4 had loads of poo accidents, all of them quite loose. Yuk. We've eventually early a year later got dx for lactose & fructose intolerance and suspected coeliac disease and her constant diarrhea meant she couldn't feel or control the loose poop he we the accidents, poor thing.

If there is a problem in particular area worth getting it investigated, took me ages to see past the yuk and twig it was a problem :(, but in your. Ase sounds v much like he's just not ready.

Sounds like he isn't ready. I would give up and wait til he's three.

I would say he is not ready. They have to recognise when they need or have done a poo/wee and want to see what you are dining first. Thee are about 10 signs to look out for. Can't remember them all but google potty training and they will all come up Smile

Hi nevercan, no he does neither of those things. Does that suggest he's not ready yet do you think?

Does he follow you to the loo and want to join in? Does he tell you when he has done a poo in his nappy?
