It was my dd's first birthday on friday. I had a big party for her with all her little friends, and she was totally overwhelmed but so well behaved, unlike some of them.

Happy birthday to you dd for last Fri. I know what you mean about less well behaved babies/children. We are having issues with some of the 1yo's at nursery.

My ds is one on Monday and we are having a joint party with his best friend (who was one on Sunday) this Saturday. I cant wait, I love parties! We have bought a ball pool each and will take it along for the 17 children (all of different ages) to play in as well as our push along toys, and have even asked the playgroup that uses the hall if we can use their toys as well. SHould be a laugh as my friends dp is a chef and will be doing yummy scrummy party food for all ages :)

A well stocked bar is a must for kids parties.
Along with an enormous field bouncy castle and someone else to organise it while you prop the bar up.

I'm going to go for the soft play area too next year. All the sweet little babies crawling around at my dd's party this year, will probably be screaming toddlers wanting to destroy the place next year!

my dd has been invited to a party at a soft play area at the end of the month, so ill be able to see what its like. Might take a bottle of vino for me.

ive decided that next year, when she is walking properly, i might hire out a fun house so all her friends can abuse someone elses place and i dont have to clear up afterwards.

Ahhhh bless !

We just had a family party for my dd's 1st - got the grandparents to wear silly hats etc and had a great time !

Totally agree about others people's kids though - Yuck ! Mine is 6 this year - and I think I may have to emigrate before the party ! Bleugh !

yes rhubarb is right, it certainly gets worse as they get older and start 'expecting' a certain standard of party!

Parties when they are little are great especially their first birthday party. She won't remember it but you always will Smile.

I had 2 parties when dd turned 1, one for those who had to bring children for heavens sake! As if just because I had one I had to actually start liking theirs!
And another in the evening for the grown ups. I have to say, the kids in the end were better behaved than the grown ups!

I hate having kids parties! So well done for putting up with it, but you really should re-think because once you start with the parties, well then where do you stop? And all children go hyper at parties. I can't stand kiddies parties and most of the time I can't stand other kids either! Including my own!!!!

most of the other children were one or just over, but there were a few who were 2 that went round kicking others.
