what shall I buy my 5 year old for her birthday? She is a girly girl - dolls etc she has a plenty as well as sparkly jewellery (glittery - you know the sort of stuff) . She has quite a lot of books and I get them from the library now anyway - can think of a few dvd's she might like but no really amazing (and not too expensive)things spring to mind - any ideas ? Quite fancied getting her a pinboard for her room but can't find any pretty non pin ones - help!

Does she like dressing up? How about a plastic box full of glamourous dressing up clothes bought from a charity shop? Or some fluffy dressing up shoes.

DD also loves the Rainbow magic books. You can get the 1st 2 series from RedHouse books and The Book People. At this age they like reading the same book over and over again so nice to keep on the bookshelf.

DD was 5 a couple of weeks ago.
Got her a bigger bike. Also some Polly Pocket which is amazingly popular.
Also popular are colouring books, dress-up stuff, craft kits, notebooks and gel pens, Playmobil, also outdoor toys such as swingball, trampoline, 2-wheeled scooter.

polly pocket? sylvanians? fairy magic books? barbie?

All great favourites with dd3 who has just turned 7 but has liked these things for a number of years now.

thanks cupcakes - these are just the sort of thing I was looking for. Lisalisa- she has a leappad but the playmobil idea is brilliant - she recently went to a little friends house and played for ages with his playmobil airplane
Off to the shops....
