Hello!

I am wanting to have a weekend celebration with all things Star Wars for my DHs birthday. We have two young DC who would love to get involved.

Problem is -I have not seen Star Wars since I was about 5! Any creative Star Wars fans out there?

So far I have:
Watch Star Wars whilst eating Star Wars themed snacks (to be determined what these snacks might be!)
Have a light saber fight in back garden

.....Yep, I definitely need help!

They're not just any costumes, they're the real thing Wink (possibly the distinction is clear only to star wars geeks)

Stealth he is 3 yrs so young Jedi would be appropriate. Hmmmm that or a Storm Trooper? They are cool too!

Will check out Darth Vader cake -good idea!

Baby Yoda may be up for a green face -he is pretty chilled so we may get away with it!

Cassie - how old is the DS that you want a costume for? Could he be a jedi youngling or is he too old?

Ok I am back seeking more advice please!

I am organizing costumes. Can someone please tell me what they think is the coolest costume for a DS? There are a couple of things to keep in mind:
-not Darth Vader as DH has bought that costume for himself that he thinks he has cleverly hidden away
-not Luke Skywalker- as we have a baby DC named Luke so he will get Luke Skywalker costume when he gets older and for now I will dress him up as baby Yoda Grin

Complete Saga for the Wii game deffo - it's lots of fun actually. It does include Eps 1-3 as well but you can just ignore them and play 4-5 (note: you can only play the first level in each episode at first; once you've completed the first level that gives you access to the second, etc).

Wow! Thank you all -this help has been invaluable (def would not have known I could just paint a donkey piñata grey!).

I have added to list:

  • Wii game
  • Lego set
  • piñata
  • talk like Yoda competition

I fear that origami would be out of our league. Monopoly sounds fun but I think I will wait until DC are older.

Will have to look into costumes but like the dressing gown suggestion! And I will look into cake toppers.

I have heard DH muttering about the original series being the best so will steer clear of the prequels -thanks for telling me which ones to watch out for BelfastBloke.

I noticed the wii games have two choices -should I be going with Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga instead of Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars as the Clone Wars is part of the newer stuff?

Thanks again!

I got the pinata from here for DS5 birthday party - he loved it and still has it hanging in his bedroom now.
Lego sets would be a great idea too - you get the small sets for about a tenner.
Lego star wars on the Play station is also good.

Every day is a Star Wars day in this house!

Grin BelfastBloke.

I made my own Death Star piñata for DS's birthday which they then beat the crap out of with lightsabers (or, as DD1 calls them, 'light savers')

Yeah, don't do that. It took bloody ages to make and looked a bit crap - perfect for five-year-olds, not for adults.

You could get a donkey piñata and paint it grey to look like an AT-AT?!

Star wars origami - google it; there seem to be books as well as instructions on the web.

See who can make the best death star or any othr spaceship/character etc (sorry not very up on SW!) out of a sheet of a4... Do it at the start of the party/weekend and they can be used as decorations or (learn how to do one yourself in advance!) and have it as a good party trick!

I also saw a Star Wars themed pinata, although for the life of me I can't think what website it was on-a job for google, I think!!
