Sorry if this is likely to make some people puke.. .. but I HAVE to share!!! I posted a couple of weeks ago about unexpectedly meeting Cherie at DD's school.. but now I have met Tony.. who (sorry again...) I have a real thing about... ..

We went to The Strand (a country park/play area type place) at Gillingham, Kent today. As soon as we arrived we saw a bit of a crowd and a few camera men/black suited men etc.. so I said to my friend 'you go and see who it is while I get DS out of the car..', then my phone rang.. it was my friend's DH (who had arrived just before us in another car and parked elsewhere) and he said 'If you don't hurry up you are going to miss your hero..." and as he said it I suddenly realised I was looking straight across the car park at Tony Blair!!!! I dropped the phone onto the floor of the car.. !

I dragged DS out of the car (left wheelchair behind and he's no light weight!!) and raced across car park and kind of loitered.. and he suddenly came over!!! I nearly died! I had a second or two of thinking I was going to faint dead away.. then got myself together and said hello.. shook his hand etc.. he said hello to DS.. then went off and spoke to someone else. My friend was frantically snapping pics with my (crap) phone that nobody can actually work including me.. (but got a few good ones!). I had remained outwouldly calm-ish until this point.. so decided to phone DH (who hadn't come as wasn't up to going out today..).. and once on the phone the enormity of it all sunk in.. I got a bit hysterical... .. then realised TB was walking away with his entourage so I said 'Gotta go!' and pursued the Premier through the crowd.... only to get waylaid by Gordon Brown (who I seriously do NOT have a thing about!!).. honestly, he came straight over to us.. asked DS his name and whether he liked football!!!??! I was chatting to him..shaking his hand etc.. (he shook DS's too) all the while craning my neck to see where TB had gone!

As soon as I escaped GB, I gave DS to my friend (as he was weighing a ton by now!).. and ran off to wear TB (followed by GB) was now buying an ice cream from the ice cream van!! So I skulked about until he was about to get into his car and managed to get close enough to take a few more pics.. and he suddenly noticed I was snapping him frantically.. stood still.. smiled straight at me and stood still so I could take my pics. I said 'thank you very much!' and he said 'that's ok!' and then got into the car eating his ice cream..! (GB gave his away.. what was the point of buying it one wonder's?! We later asked the ice cream man if he charged them.. and he said 'Hell yes!') PML!!

I was an absolute basketcase for about 2 hours afterwards.. thank God my friends were watching all our kids!!! My friend had to feed DS his picnic as his mother was completely useless!!

Can't believe I have unexpectedly met and shaken the hands of both the Blairs within 2 weeks of each other! I had no idea he was going to be there!!!

Ok.. hysteria over.. sorry if I have made anyone nauseous ... but this seriuosly was a big event to me!

I saw a pic of Blair holding ice-creams in this morning's paper and it made me think of you SleepyJess!

(And I do seriously have a bit of an inappropriate longing for Our Great Leader...)

SJ - I posted on here last week that I had met Tony Blair unexpectedly too! We had only gone because dd2 wanted to see the helicopters they had come in . Nevertheless, I felt quite chuffed that I had met him and GB and shook their hands, regardless of what political persuasion I may or may not be. It quite made my day - so I understand

Bless you, Jess. I guess there's someone for everyone

SleepyJess. Take no notice hun. The best I've done in 38 years is Timmy Mallett and Michael Howard (frightening similarities methinks) and if you've had a good day that's all that matters

I just like him.. I like his sincerity and the way he is with people.. and happen to like the way he looks as well. And yes, I agree with vast majority of his policies.. but I know I am about to get ripped apart for this so will go and do my ironing now.

Do you admire the man for his 'policies' or it is purely for his dashing looks and rippling torso?

PMSL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL MP... I take you you are taking the mick! Was a bit slow on the uptake there.. thinking I had someone to share my excitement with LOL! Ah well.. my fault focusing my admiration so far from the 'mainstream' I guess!

I had a good day anyway..

New NI means I am no further forward.

Bubble.. don't worry hun.. I am quite happy to have whatever discussed on 'my' thread!

And LGJ.. not going to respond to your comments because, despite who he is and what he stands for, my exitement has less to do with my political orientation and more to do with my childish crush!
