has been coming through for ages and now its half way there and theres no space for it in my mouth and apart from the pain, its pushing my other teeth together
dentist has said if it carries on will have to go to hosp???????as it will have to be operated on
anyone had it done?any one know how i can ease pain so i can open my mouth more than a millimetre!

My DH had a top one taken out a couple of years ago. Once the anaesthetic (an injection in the gum or palate) took effect, the tooth was out in seconds. He didn't have any problems with the socket - did the salt water rinse for a day and took maximum dose OTC analgesics.

I think the bottom ones are harder as they often grow sideways and have to be hacked out.

And try ringing nhs direct too. They are usually pretty helpful. They might be able to get you an appt with an emergency doctor.

Oh dear, I've been thinking about you. If yo can't get in to see your doctor, perhaps you should go to your nearest a&e - if you're in really bad pain you need something to help you. How long are you looking after friends dd? Can you go after that?

Certianly sounds like it has got infected. Is it worth seeing your GP to see if you need some antibiotics?

Another plus to it was that hubby had to look after our one year old, went ot bed that night at 7pm and has the best night sleep ever probably due to the general?

. also if I had left it a few months later I would have been pregnant with number 2

had all four out under general in 2001, in and out in one day. Not much swelling, and didn't have to take many painkillers after. For a few days after only drank those slimming drinks. Great for weight loss, also had a few days off work.

Recommend to get them sorted, had problems with mine on and off for years. Good luck

It sounds yucky - why don't you phone now? Like you say, you don't want to feel crap all weekend. See what they say, how soon you could get it done etc etc.

I had all 4 taken out under general when I was 25 (19 years ago ).

It involved an overnight stay - but suspect that nowadays it would be done as a day case.

I had very little swelling and not that much pain. I think I was fortunate that it was quite straight forward. mine needed out as there was no room for them to come thorugh and the bottom ones wer trying to push through at an angle. They'd already managed to cut - so I was getting frequent infections and ear ache. The top ones weren't bothering me, but they said they'd take them out anyway as there was no room for them to go should they decide to come thourgh.

Because they were doing all 4, they said it had to be under general. I didn't argue
