Box hair dyes

Hi,
First time starting a thread !
Anyone use box hair dyes? I have always had my hair done at the salon, usually low and highlights. However I am toying with the idea of dying my own hair for cost reasons mainly.
Any hairdressers out there who can shed some light ? Every hairdresser I have known has told me not to box dye but I don't know if they are doing it for business of whether you really should not do it for some particular reason ? Not as good for your hair maybe ?.
Anyone got any tips on what brands and tips to get the best results?!

I tried it so many times. You have to keep in mind these things. First, you have to choose a box dye color you like. Try it little bit of dye on a small part of your hair first. You must consider following the instructions in the box carefully. And also use gloves to apply dye color on your hair and don’t get dye on your skin. After dyeing, you can use products that are good for colored hair.
