What do yuo mean by a session?
I pay £125 for a 40 hour week.

foxtrot · 02/02/2007 18:09

Preschool - 3 hour session is £10 without grant, £1.70 with grant. I suspect this may be at the high end of the going rate, will be interested to see.

DS is 18mths and want to start him on a couple of mornings a week say 9.30-12. So per morning.

Foxt the one i am looking at is £12 a session and just wondered how that rated in the grand scheme of things. Would i be right in thinking they dont get the grant til term they turn 3? Or is it 4!!

Not pre-school then, they usually take them from about 2.6yrs. Nursery?

Pinotmum · 02/02/2007 18:16

I'm in Greater London and the one I work at charges £7.26 per session (min of 2 sessions a week). This is a 2.5 hr session btw. The one down the road charges £6.50 but haven't as nice premises

foxtrot · 02/02/2007 18:16

Sorry, i'm confused now! Are you talking about pre-school/playgroup where you drop them off for a morning or afternoon session?

foxtrot · 02/02/2007 18:17

Grant usually kicks in the term after thier third birthday.

chocolatebirdy · 02/02/2007 19:24

Yes pre school/playgroup thing. The same thing tends to have different names round here. Some take them from 18mths some 24mths and others not til 30mths.

Ours works out to £10 per four-hour session. We're in London. But to be fair, you pay and you do shifts, iyswim. 20 months and up.

brimfull · 02/02/2007 19:29

Our is from 2yr9mos and is £5.95 per session and free the term after 3rd birthday. This is for 2 3/4 hrs

WriggleJiggle · 02/02/2007 19:37

I was under the impression nurseries were more expensive than childminders? My child minder costs £4.50 an hour to look after dd (10 months).

ScoobyDooooo · 02/02/2007 19:41

They take them from 2yrs round here morning or afternoon sessions each session is 2.5hrs, my ds goes from 9am - 11.30am its free because he is now 4.4 but when we used to pay which is up till the term after they have turned 3 it was £8.50 this is in surrey.

chocolatebirdy · 02/02/2007 19:43

So £12 does seem a bit steep then! (also Surrey)

WriggleJiggle i think they are talking anout nursery as in pre-schoool, i think nurseries for babies are alot more expensive, i know ours around here are £21 from 9-12am in a nursery.

ScoobyDooooo · 02/02/2007 19:45

Where abouts in surrey are you?

WriggleJiggle · 02/02/2007 19:46

Ahh, I understand now. Thanks ScoobyDooooo .

brimfull · 02/02/2007 19:47

yes I am referring to a pre-school not a day care facility.

amidaiwish · 02/02/2007 19:51

mine are in daycare, but the playgroup near me (SW London) is £17 a session (2.5 hours morning or afternoon). That is considered good value btw!

TrinityRhino · 02/02/2007 20:06

dd2 goes to a nusery, she is 21 months, it costs £14 for four hours

chocolatebirdy · 02/02/2007 20:12

We are Reigate area. It does seem to vary hugely then depending on area, expected London to be ££££
