Been reading a lot on here recently about the 15 hours free childcare for 3 years olds. My child is at a nursery where he has been since 9 months for 3 full days a week. The nursery is on the local authorities list as offering the childcare. He is nearly 2, I'm wondering do I need to apply to the nursery to have his 15 hours with them ? Do the have limited spaces for this service ? I understand I will have to continue to pay for the excess and during holiday but every little helps working full time and I don't want to miss out if I need to be applying now - thanks Smile

no you shouldn't need to apply but do ask the nursery if you will need to confirm attendance in advance and if so by when. Also how they apply the funding - sometimes you get those hours "free" in termtime, reducing the fees for those weeks, then pay in full during school holidays. Others average the discount out over a whole year so each month's bill is the same. It only applies the term after your ds turns 3 so that presumably is at least a year away.
