Very patronising. Why would I name my car and what was the comparison with pets all about?

Very badly designed survey.
Answers will not be reliable, as far too much bias in one direction or he other, no scope for "not applicable" or " not relevant".
Some questions were daft, and about our "relationship" with the car, not it's servicing.

Some people living in households are NOT parents, believe it or not - most strange how you decided to categorise by "parenthood" - either singly or dual or whatever.
Dreadful.

Yes, I just picked one answer at random there because none really applied.

Tried to complete this, and dealt with lots of irrelevant answers till I got to "if your MOT was carried out by a women" (which it wasn't) and it wouldn't let me proceed without selecting one of those options, none of which was true.

@QueenOfLabradors

I couldn't care less if my MOT tester or mechanic self identified as a badger, as long as they were qualified.

I think I might be more inclined to use a garage where the mechanics identified as badgers

I think this survey carried a heavy assumption that women have problems dealing with "technical" car issues or find it a hassle which I didn't appreciate and that they overwhelmingly anthropomorphise their vehicles. I suspect I'm probably not the target audience for whatever brand is about to promote a "treat you car like you treat your pet" maintenance service.

I used the ‘other’ box quite a bit to explain what my answer was, and why, so that’s an option on some of the questions, if you want to explain why their survey is flawed your answer more fully or why its a stupid question and you won’t be answering it.

You should have just asked us what colour we wanted our pretty little car to be 🙄 it was all a bit patronising because a delicate woman couldn't possibly deal with a powerful motor car...

No option for saying you have new cars that don't need MOTs and haven't had their first service

Love this.

I quite fancy identifying as a badger...

Confused by MOT or service? An MOT is done at specialist MOT centres in NI, services are done by mechanics/garages.

So I know my mechanic but won’t know MOT centre staff and any work done on the car will only be by mechanic, MOT test centres just test, they don’t work on the car at all.

Made it v difficult to answer the questions!

Agree that there needs to be more female mechanics but now that I'm old I don't give 2 hoots if the mechanic patronises me - give it back in spades to 'em

That was a weird survey. I’ve never thought so much about the mot process in my life before, nor do I care as much as the possible answers obviously wanted me to.

When did you last Mot your car? More than three years ago? I hope not, that would render it illegal being on the road. Presuming an Mot has happened before and therefore it isn’t too new. Does the author of this survey actually know much about cars?

As mentioned above, I don't care if my car is serviced by a male or female mechanic, but there was no option for this.

I thought the questions were poorly phrased and weighted., with your desired outcomes quite clear

Report
ThinkWittyThoughts · 22/12/2020 23:29

Are you made or female?
Then six options to chose from. Irritating.

What type of relationship: using combinations of male & female.

Pick. If gender interests you, ask. If sex interests you, ask.

Also agree with PP - some questions are clearly trying to reach a specific answer.
This was a very poorly designed survey.

Report
rollinggreenhills · 22/12/2020 21:48

Oh dear. Not all that easy to answer some of the questions, as the answer options were so biased.
