This is the feedback thread for the Mumsnetters who have been testing products from Surcare’s sensitive range. Testers tried either the laundry liquid or the laundry capsules, as well as Surcare's fabric conditioner and washing up liquid.

This is what Surcare has to say: ‘We are excited for Mumsnetters to try our sensitive laundry detergent as although we have been around for over 30 years and have a really loyal customer base, we want to spread the Surcare secret far and wide! With eczema cases rising more than 40% in just four years*, we knew we had a responsibility to educate people about some of the chemicals and fragrances found in their washing products. This is particularly relevant when you consider that the onset of eczema and other skin conditions often begins in infancy, so protecting delicate baby skin is crucial. We have spent 30 years perfecting our family of cleaning products so that you can do the everyday with less worry. People often think they’re compromising when they use ‘sensitive’ products, however our range has great cleaning power even on cool and quick washes. We really hope you enjoy using it and can’t wait to hear what you think’

Testers, please give your feedback by answering the questions below on this thread, as well as completing the survey we have emailed you

1.Which Surcare sensitive laundry detergent did you test (capsules or liquid)? What are your overall thoughts on the detergent?
2.What did you like most about the detergent you tried?
3.What are your overall thoughts on Surcare’s sensitive fabric conditioner?
4.What are your overall thoughts on Surcare’s sensitive washing up liquid?
5.Did you notice an improvement to yours or your family member’s sensitive skin after using Surcare sensitive products?

All testers who give the required feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one lucky tester will win a £100 voucher for a store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

1.Which Surcare sensitive laundry detergent did you test (capsules or liquid)? What are your overall thoughts on the detergent?
I had the capsules and was surprisingly impressed. They got my washing clean and didn't irritate any of our skin. It doesn't have a scent but washing did smell clean.

2.What did you like most about the detergent you tried? That it got my clothes clean. That the main thing I ask from such a product.

3.What are your overall thoughts on Surcare’s sensitive fabric conditioner? Again the fabrics washed felt nice but no scent which is really why I would use softener.

4.What are your overall thoughts on Surcare’s sensitive washing up liquid? It's was as good as what I normally use. The bubbles lasted as long as others and washed my dishes. I do tend to use a dishwasher for most things though.

5.Did you notice an improvement to yours or your family member’s sensitive skin after using Surcare sensitive products? We were all ok when using the product. My children had no flare ups and no itchiness reported.

1.Which Surcare sensitive laundry detergent did you test (capsules or liquid)? What are your overall thoughts on the detergent?

I was given the chance to test the liquid and
Was pleasantly surprised with how good it was, delicate clean fragrance and didn’t cause any eczema flare ups on me or my children.

2.What did you like most about the detergent you tried?

The liquid was very efficient at getting my 1 and 3 year old toddlers clothes clean and fresh even at low temperatures.

3.What are your overall thoughts on Surcare’s sensitive fabric conditioner?

I was dubious at first over the lack of fragrance but I needn’t have been. It left the washing lovely and soft, even the towels were fluffy.

4.What are your overall thoughts on Surcare’s sensitive washing up liquid?

The washing up liquid gets a mixed review from me, it was so kind and gentle to my skin eczema prone skin which is a first for any washing up liquid I’ve used, however, kindless to the skin seems to reduce the effectiveness of the product overall, as it wasn’t as good at cleaning the dishes as my usual brand. I’ve ended up using a lot more of this product to get the same kind of lather and cleaning as other brands.

5.Did you notice an improvement to yours or your family member’s sensitive skin after using Surcare sensitive products?

Definitely, there have been no eczema flare ups in our house at all for the period of time using these products, so they are very gentle in the skin.

1.Which Surcare sensitive laundry detergent did you test (capsules or liquid)? What are your overall thoughts on the detergent?

Capsules. We have mostly brights, colours and dark clothing and the capsules were effective at removing marks and cleaning everything well. We don't have a lot of white items so can't comment on how well the capsules work on those. The little ones skin wasn't irritated and we've had no eczema flare ups while using.

2.What did you like most about the detergent you tried?

I liked that I could get great cleaning results without compromising on caring for my little ones skin.

3.What are your overall thoughts on Surcare’s sensitive fabric conditioner?

I usually avoid fabric softener/conditioner as I find it particularly problematic on sensitive skin so it was great to discover that I can have super soft laundry without irritating the children's skin.

4.What are your overall thoughts on Surcare’s sensitive washing up liquid?

I had used this before this product test and liked it but I can't easily find it where I shop. I will be looking to see where I can purchase online as it's an effective yet gentle product.

5.Did you notice an improvement to yours or your family member’s sensitive skin after using Surcare sensitive products?

I didn't notice an improvement but their sensitivities weren't triggered so I'm happy.

1.Which Surcare sensitive laundry detergent did you test (capsules or liquid)? What are your overall thoughts on the detergent?
I used the liquid. I was a little put off by the lack of fragrance and felt that the consistency was slightly thinner than other detergents I've used.
2.What did you like most about the detergent you tried?
I was pleased to try this product because of the benefits to sensitive skin and I did find that it didn't aggravate my and my son's skin as other sometimes do.
3.What are your overall thoughts on Surcare’s sensitive fabric conditioner?
As with the detergent, I wasn't so keen on the lack of fragrance and the thin consistency of the conditioner, but my clothes were cleaned and condition as well as when using other brands.
4.What are your overall thoughts on Surcare’s sensitive washing up liquid?
I, perhaps ignorantly, like my washing up liquid (and laundry detergent/conditioner!) to have a fragrance as it seems to give the impression of a better clean or at least masks the sometimes remaining cooking aromas. I was also a little disappointed by the lack of bubbles/suds, for the same reason really. I felt like I had to use an awful lot more liquid to acheive the same level of thorough cleaning.
5.Did you notice an improvement to yours or your family member’s sensitive skin after using Surcare sensitive products?
I wouldn't 100% confirm that there was an improvement in my family's skin but I certainly noticed less dry skin on my hands, compared to the results that I've come to expect from using any other, standard liquid

Capsules. Happy with it- it works.
2.What did you like most about the detergent you tried?
That it doesn't smell strong. I don't fragranced washing powder and am sensitive to it.

3.What are your overall thoughts on Surcare’s sensitive fabric conditioner?
Only used it a couple of times but seems like it works, and I like that lack of smell.

4.What are your overall thoughts on Surcare’s sensitive washing up liquid?
I liked it- although I didn't like that you couldn't see the colour of the liquid in the bottle (I know this is irrational)

5.Did you notice an improvement to yours or your family member’s sensitive skin after using Surcare sensitive products?

Nothing got worse and my son's skin has improved recently although not sure of a correlation (Also I already used Surcare washing powder before this so wouldn't expect much change)

Overall I like this product. Would be good if the packaging was more environmentally friendly.

1.Which Surcare sensitive laundry detergent did you test (capsules or liquid)? What are your overall thoughts on the detergent?
I tried the liquid detergent, I am very happy with it. My clothes are clean and they have a fresh scent which isn’t overpowering. You don’t have to add much for each wash so the bottle lasts for a long time. I used the liquid on its own on my towels etc and they still came out soft and smelling fresh.
2.What did you like most about the detergent you tried?
I love that I know this is good for my daughters skin.
3.What are your overall thoughts on Surcare’s sensitive fabric conditioner?
Lovely scent and left my clothes feeling really soft. There was no greasy feel, my towels were still absorbent if I used the conditioner on them and they smell fresh for a long time.
4.What are your overall thoughts on Surcare’s sensitive washing up liquid?
Brilliant. Washes just as well as the leading brand. My hands are much less dry after using this for washing up. A bottle lasts just as long as the leading brand.
5.Did you notice an improvement to yours or your family member’s sensitive skin after using Surcare sensitive products?
Yes. My hands are less dry. My daughters excema has cleared up completely on her body ( just left on her cheeks now). Thank you!

1.Which Surcare sensitive laundry detergent did you test (capsules or liquid)? What are your overall thoughts on the detergent?
We tested the capsules. I do prefer a capsule as I find them less messy, and more convenient & quick to pop in the machine. The rrp price for these is £5.25 which when worked out for each wash is only 26p per wash, so I thought it was a reasonable price. There are other capsule brands that are slightly cheaper however, I would be happy to pay for surcare at the £5.25 price knowing it is safe for our skin and is effective.

2.What did you like most about the detergent you tried?
I found them quick & convenient being in capsules, already measured out for me. I think it’s great that it works effectively even on a quick wash and low temperatures. The capsules “do what they say on the tin” - everything came out fresh and clean, even on the grubbiest of clothes. And it’s so nice not to worry about whether once cleaned the clothes will cause any skin issues, our family seems to all just have a tendency for sensitive skin unfortunately, I spend ages looking at laundry detergents in the supermarket trying to guess which is the best one for us. After trialing surcare I know I will be looking to purchase it again.

3.What are your overall thoughts on Surcare’s sensitive fabric conditioner?
I did notice the lack of scent - but I do love that its fragrance free, as other brands that are aimed at sensitive skin that I have used previously usually have an added fragrance, I do think the synthetic fragrances are one of the main causes to our skin flare ups. Our sheets and clothes were left nice and soft after using the fabric condition. The rrp is £1.25 which i thought was excellent & affordable.

4.What are your overall thoughts on Surcare’s sensitive washing up liquid?
It didn’t dry my skin at all, and it was left feeling soft and supple. Was effective at cleaning, even oily pans etc it managed to get rid of any grease and grime. It was quite bubbly too which I liked, compared to some other brands I found surcare had a nice bubbly lather. Again the rrp for this is £1.25 which I think is very reasonable and I’d be happy to pay for.

5.Did you notice an improvement to yours or your family member’s sensitive skin after using Surcare sensitive products?
Yes - no one reacted at all, in fact I actually noticed a slight improvement to my skin. I was able to do dishes without washing up gloves for the first time in forever - I was a bit apprehensive to try this but thought since my skin had been so good with my clothes and bedding washed in the capsules/ fabric conditioner then I’d give it a go. No flare ups at all, and I would say there was a noticeable improvement in eczema patches too.

Overall I was pleased with the surcare range, and will be looking to use it again in the future. And thanks for the mug too!

  1. Which Surcare sensitive laundry detergent did you test? What are your overall thoughts on the detergent?

I tested the liquid and liked it. There's no smell and clothes felt soft and it didn't irritate my eczema and dry skin. I thought it was rubbish on stains but didn't realise until I was peeling the label off the bottle to recycle it that it could be used to pretreat stains before washing. I really liked that it was easy to recycle the bottle.

  1. What did you like most about the detergent you tried?

That it was aimed at those of us with sensitive skin. Clean laundry without irritating my skin at all.

  1. What are your overall thoughts on Surcare's sensitive fabric conditioner?

It made clothes soft but without any scent. I think I prefer having a scent but I appreciate that probably isn't good for sensitive skin. And again, it didn't irritate my eczema which is great.

  1. What are your overall thoughts on Surcare's sensitive washing up liquid?

Loved it and I'm now a convert. It lasted just as long as my normal brand which I was very surprised at and it didn't cause a flare up of eczema on my hands. Dishes were clean after using, including greasy, baked in pots and pans.

  1. Did you notice an improvement to yours or your family member's sensitive skin after using Surcare sensitive products?

No improvement to my sensitive skin but it didn't get any worse either which I'm happy with. Would recommend.

3.What are your overall thoughts on Surcare’s sensitive fabric conditioner?

4.What are your overall thoughts on Surcare’s sensitive washing up liquid?
Wasn't as effective on grease as my normal brand. Kind on my skin.

1.Which Surcare sensitive laundry detergent did you test (capsules or liquid)? What are your overall thoughts on the detergent?

Capsules. I thought they were excellent, washed clothes well, didn’t irritate any of our skin which is a huge plus and I like it being fragrance free.

2.What did you like most about the detergent you tried?

It was kind to our babies skin, he’s been struggling a lot with it recently.

3.What are your overall thoughts on Surcare’s sensitive fabric conditioner?

Did make clothes soft, I’m not sure it’s something I would purchase again as we don’t normally use a fabric conditioner and I don’t think it made a big enough difference to start using but it was great to try.

4.What are your overall thoughts on Surcare’s sensitive washing up liquid?

Excellent! I really hate washing with over fragranced/coloured washing up liquids. We now have lots of washing to do that we can’t use the dishwasher for with a baby. I never remember to wear gloves so this was perfect to use with my dry skin as it’s getting really irritated with bottle washing, hand washing and alcohol hand gels all the time.

5.Did you notice an improvement to yours or your family member’s sensitive skin after using Surcare sensitive products?

There wasn’t an improvement in such a short time but there were definitely no flare ups which was fantastic!

1.Which Surcare sensitive laundry detergent did you test (capsules or liquid)? What are your overall thoughts on the detergent?

I tested the capsules. Loved them - they did a great job (on some filthy washing!), smell nice, no ones skin reacted.
I didn’t use them on the cloth nappies as I use powder on those, so would like to see a powder as well! (Although did enjoy the convenience of capsules for novelty!)

2.What did you like most about the detergent you tried?

Did a good job cleaning, without upsetting anyone’s eczema

3.What are your overall thoughts on Surcare’s sensitive fabric conditioner?

1.Which Surcare sensitive laundry detergent did you test (capsules or liquid)? What are your overall thoughts on the detergent?

I tested the capsules.

2.What did you like most about the detergent you tried?

That it managed to be kind to skin, effective and smell good. Was really impressed at how effective it was actually, I would have expected there to be some compromise but it delivered in all areas! I feel it must be much kinder to the environment as well which is definitely a bonus.

3.What are your overall thoughts on Surcare’s sensitive fabric conditioner?

Definitely made the clothes softer!

4.What are your overall thoughts on Surcare’s sensitive washing up liquid?

Far superior to what I had been using and like the fact that it is not heavily fragranced either.

5.Did you notice an improvement to yours or your family member’s sensitive skin after using Surcare sensitive products?

My three month olds skin has improved, although I should note that I have also reduced length and number of baths and changed his baby bath wash. I feel like my skin and my seven year olds skin is in better condition as well, we dont suffer as much as the baby but every little helps!

Thank you for the opportunity to test, I'm definitely switching all products apart from fabric softener which I dont normally use anyway Smile

2.What did you like most about the detergent you tried?

We loved this product. Clothes came out really soft. We never usually use fabric conditioner but I think we are sold on this one.

4.What are your overall thoughts on Surcare’s sensitive washing up liquid?

1.Which Surcare sensitive laundry detergent did you test (capsules or liquid)? What are your overall thoughts on the detergent?
I tried the liquid. It was surprisingly good. Usually I like a scent on my clothes after washing and as this didn’t smell of much I wasn’t sure what to expect. However it left clothes and towels with a just washer smell which wasn’t overbearing.

2.What did you like most about the detergent you tried?
It lasted longer than I thought it would especially sticking to the recommended amount.

3.What are your overall thoughts on Surcare’s sensitive fabric conditioner?
For the cost of it, it lasted as long as other higher costing products, again didn’t smell of much upon opening, however left clothes smelling feeling fresh.

4.What are your overall thoughts on Surcare’s sensitive washing up liquid?
It works wonders for people who suffer from dry hands from constantly washing up, the dry patches I usually get in between my fingers and knuckles have disappeared.

5.Did you notice an improvement to yours or your family member’s sensitive skin after using Surcare sensitive products?
Yes very much so, my daughter sometimes complains of being itchy particularly after wearing clothes that have recently been washed. She develops patches of dry skin on her legs and arms. This didn’t happen once since using these products.
