This is the feedback thread for the Mumsnet users who tested products from BetterYou’s new range of oral supplement sprays, for hair, skin & nails, conception, pregnancy and children’s health.

Here’s what BetterYou has to say: “BetterYou is an innovative natural health company specialising in the supplementation of the growing number of key nutrients lost through our dramatically changing diet and lifestyle. Our products stand alone in the marketplace by their unique levels of quality and effectiveness.

BetterYou specialises in the supplementation of those nutrients that have become underrepresented or simply omitted due to our modern diet and lifestyles. Each and every product is developed and formulated to overcome absorption challenges typically presented by traditional delivery methods.

In response to the growing concerns around plastic production and recycling, BetterYou has spent the last 2 years developing a range of recycled and carbon-negative packaging solutions that enables us to drastically reduce our impact on the environment. We are adopting environmental firsts within our industry, and the world...”

I'd just like to add an update to my previous review of the Madeline Shaw conception spray - as others have said it lasted longer as I did have days when I'd forget to use it but have still been using it up to now and I think this - along with starting daily yoga and deep breathing - has certainly helped as I've just found out I'm pregnant! Thanks so much - we've been trying for about 2 yrs. :D

I tested conception. I found they lasted a lot less than the time given on the bottle and I was concerned that you couldn't know how much you were getting as a result. I did the 4 sprays as recommended. The first time, a load dribbled out on to my top so I found two sprays, swallow, two sprays worked best.

I don't know whether I'd use again. I find with tablets there is more certainty about the amount. Taste was quite nice though and it was really convenient.

Hi all
Did two tests yesterday and got a faint lines on first response and a digital said the words not pregnant.
I started bleeding quite heavy and red today but no pain whatsoever. So assumed the worse so I did another digital and first response as had some left.
And this was the result, darker line and the words pregnant.
So confused and upset why are my levels rising and not dropping?? xx
Last chemical was 4th Jan. Period was due Wednesday.

I'm one of the users who got their bfp while taking this (have name changed) - just popping in to update anyone who is interested - I'm now 15 weeks pregnant. After multiple miscarriages I never thought I'd get this far in pregnancy again. I don't know if the spray made the difference or something else but it definitely didn't do any harm!

  1. Which product/s from the range did you test? What were your initial thoughts?

Conception - initially impressed as it seemed like a much pleasanter alternative to sometimes hard to stomach pills

  1. What did you think of the flavour of the spray/s you tried?

Tasted like Vimto 😃 I liked it.

  1. How would you compare spray supplementation to other formats you’ve tried in the past?

Easy to use, although I'm not sure if it was the particular bottle I used but I didn't feel like the dosing was consistent. I had to trust that the dosage given was sufficient. With tablets it seems reliably consistent. For any other vitamins, I wouldn't mind so much but for the Folic Acid, I'd really want to know that was sufficient.

  1. Do you plan on continuing to use the spray/s you’ve been testing?

I finished the contents but wouldn't have purchased another after and returned to multivitamin type pills. Future use would be heavily dependent upon the price point.

I'm not a tester but I've been taking the Iron 10 spray for a few months and it's improved my ferritin levels much more than taking tablets did!

I do like the taste of it, but prefer the peppermint Vitamin D 4000IU which I've just started taking.

I'm not a tester, but got the B12 one last week. Two doses and the pump stopped working completely. I may have got a duff one, but it has put me off this delivery method. Sad

I wasn't a tester however I just came on to say that I use the Vitamin D spray by BetterYou and it's great! Nice taste (unlike many other products containing vitamins) and super easy. I leave mine by the kettle!
I find by using a spray, that Im remembering to take it a lot more than I would if it were a pill. A quick squirt every morning whilst the kettle is boiling!
I'm feeling the benefits already after just two weeks 👍🏻

1. Which product/s from the range did you test?
Conception spray
What were your initial thoughts?
Seemed like a really good idea and easier/more discreet than a tablet
  1. What did you think of the flavour of the spray/s you tried?

I really liked the berry taste but it was a bit chalky tasting afterwards
  1. How would you compare spray supplementation to other formats you’ve tried in the past?

I like the ease of the spray and i could just spray wherever without having water
  1. Do you plan on continuing to use the spray/s you’ve been testing?

Yes I really like it

Just wanted to come back and say that today I got my BFP! Hard to say if the spray helped but I def would give it a go if you’re TTC

1. Which product/s from the range did you test? What were your initial thoughts?
I tested the conception spray and I was really keen on the luxury packaging. It looked like it would be a premium brand. My criticism, is I couldn’t see any of the ingredients it contained or in what capacity, except for the fact it contains iron. I kept checking multiple times as I thought I was mad.
  1. What did you think of the flavour of the spray/s you tried?

I quite liked the sweetness of the spray, but I wouldn’t say it tasted like the flavours on the box. But, a nice sweet fruity taste none the less. It did leave a metallic taste, which I assume is the iron, but I didn’t find this unpleasant and went quickly.
  1. How would you compare spray supplementation to other formats you’ve tried in the past?

I liked the concept and I haven’t forgotten to take it. Probably because as I pass it, I can just pick it up and spray and done. It’s more convenient than the big prenatal tablets which can be quite big.
  1. Do you plan on continuing to use the spray/s you’ve been testing?

I would consider continuing using the spray if I knew what was in it and the price point was comparable to some of the other leading supplements.
I also think it would be hard to know when you are going to run out and to order/buy another one as you don’t have a visual prompt like running out of tablets.

Overall, I enjoyed testing the product.

And I’ve also just got my bfp after 17/18 months of trying and a mmc in May. Hopefully this is a sticky one and baby dust to everyone 💫

  1. Which product/s from the range did you test? What were your initial thoughts?

I tested the hair, skin and nails and my children tested the children’s health sprays. Was a hit with my kids who would prompt me every day for their spray and looked forward to taking it. That never happens usually Grin

  1. What did you think of the flavour of the spray/s you tried?

My kids absolutely loved the raspberry flavour and I was pleasantly surprised by the peach flavour. Quite a strong, fruity taste that was very easy to take. I felt it left a sort of an oily feeling in my mouth where I sprayed, but it wasn’t unpleasant and didn’t last long.

  1. How would you compare spray supplementation to other formats you’ve tried in the past?

Absolutely fantastic. When giving it to my 2 year old who is hit or miss with chewable vitamins, when I administered both sprays together it was over and done in seconds with no complaints. When I tried giving them separately he would quite happily take the first spray then run away and wouldn’t take the second so it’s great that 2 sprays straight in his mouth and he’s done totally stress free.

  1. Do you plan on continuing to use the spray/s you’ve been testing?

I would definitely continue with these sprays depending on the price point. They taste great and are incredibly easy to administer but the packaging of the sprays leads me to believe it’s a premium product.

I can’t say I’ve noticed a difference in my hair or skin but I must say my nails do not feel as brittle as usual.

Apologies for being late, I’ve been floored by some sort of virus although thankfully tested negative for covid.

Congratulations to all who have got their BFPs after trying the conception spray! Let’s hope it becomes a trend whereby all who used the conception spray get BFPs this year. What a great ending to a miserable year that’d be! Then we could have a reason to celebrate 2020 and not just wish the year away. Flowers for all with their BFPs already and 🤞🏻 for those still trying. I’m hoping I get mine real soon as I’m getting to the stage of thinking about giving up as I can’t bear those stark white areas where the second line should be. I lost twins in January and am not sure how much more I can take. However, I am genuinely happy for all of those who get their BFPs as it’s such a wonderful feeling when it’s something you really want. Wishing those ladies a happy and healthy pregnancy and beyond 🥰

  1. Which product/s from the range did you test? What were your initial thoughts?

Skin, Hair & Nails and the children’s multivitamin - I like the packaging and like the overall concept of a spray.

  1. What did you think of the flavour of the spray/s you tried?

I was very pleasantly surprised- was much nicer than I expected. Very fruity and sweet. My 9 year old liked the kids one too but my 5 year old hated it!

  1. How would you compare spray supplementation to other formats you’ve tried in the past?

Much handier- I’m much more likely to take the spray than a tablet, especially as I don’t usually have breakfast and taking tablets on an empty stomach is very unpleasant

  1. Do you plan on continuing to use the spray/s you’ve been testing?

Absolutely- I will definitely continue using them for my vitamin requirements from now on. But for the kids I’ll stick to gummy vitamins as I can’t face a daily battle with my 5 year old!

  1. What products did you test? Skin, hair & nails and Kids' vitamins. Initial thoughts? Loved the small size of the bottles.

  1. Flavour - too artificially sweet. My daughter (9) isn't a fan of the flavour and requests a drink of water directly after taking her dose.

  1. Format comparison - I love the spray bottle idea. My daughter does too. It's so much more convenient and quicker than taking pills.

  1. We will both continue to use the rest of the bottles. I will happily repurchase but the taste was too off putting for my daughter.

  1. Which product/s from the range did you test? What were your initial thoughts?

Conception, initially I thought that there was too much packaging for what was inside.

  1. What did you think of the flavour of the spray/s you tried?

It wasn't too bad but did distinctly taste of iron.

  1. How would you compare spray supplementation to other formats you’ve tried in the past?

It was different, I feel like just taking a vitamin pill would be easier than having to use 4 sprays but I do think the spray would be better for children.

  1. Do you plan on continuing to use the spray/s you’ve been testing?

I will use the rest of the bottle but probably wouldn't purchase again.

  1. Which product/s from the range did you test? What were your initial thoughts?

I tried the Conception spray. I liked the spray format as it seemed quick and easy to take on the go. I found the spray a bit fiddly the first few times as I think I was spraying it too close to my cheek, but soon got the hang of it.

  1. What did you think of the flavour of the spray/s you tried?

The pomegranate and raspberry was pleasant but quite strong and a tad synthetic tasting. It was a bit like spraying a fruit syrup into your mouth. I’d have preferred something a little lighter.

  1. How would you compare spray supplementation to other formats you’ve tried in the past?

So so much easier than other forms. I’m forever forgetting to take tablets but I think because you can just spray and go it’s easier to get into the habit of remembering to take it. I was a bit worried I wasn’t always getting the correct dose though due to the aforementioned issues with spraying the product sometimes.

  1. Do you plan on continuing to use the spray/s you’ve been testing?

I will absolutely continue using the current spray and will most likely consider repurchasing in the future, although I would prefer if there was a recyclable option with less packaging.

  1. Which product/s from the range did you test? What were your initial thoughts?

Pregnancy. I really liked the idea although found it incredibly tickly spraying it in my cheek.

  1. What did you think of the flavour of the spray/s you tried?

I wasn't that keen on the minty flavour due to the aftertaste, but the initial taste was fine, so it was good as long as i had a drink after.

  1. How would you compare spray supplementation to other formats you’ve tried in the past?

I don't suffer nausea so don't have a problem with pills which tend to have more vitamin included but i think it would be great for someone who did suffer from nausea and it also meant i took it everyday as i was able to take it without water so just had it next to my bed so it was easy to remember, even though i preferred to have a drink afterwards.

  1. Do you plan on continuing to use the spray/s you’ve been testing?

Yes, i will continue to use it for the remainder of my pregnancy.

  1. Which product/s from the range did you test? What were your initial thoughts?

I tested the Skin Hair and Nails
and Kids Multivitamins which I thought was great packaging, ingredients and brilliant idea that it can be sprayed so no dropped tablets or holding of nose/ or counting to 123 in order to swallow.

  1. What did you think of the flavour of the spray/s you tried?

Really sorry but I thought it tasted horrible and it lingered for a while after the sprays.

  1. How would you compare spray supplementation to other formats you’ve tried in the past?

Great idea but the flavour needs tweaking I think.
My 8 year old loved the spray format and was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to take Vitamin.Grin

  1. Do you plan on continuing to use the spray/s you’ve been testing?

Yes I will use until finished thank you.Flowers

  1. Which product/s from the range did you test? What were your initial thoughts?

I tested Hair, Skin and Nails. My children tested Children's Health.

  1. What did you think of the flavour of the spray/s you tried?

Awful! My children had a few sprays of this but wouldn't have any more. I didn't think it was worth continuing with Hair, Skin and Nails for the taste either. I think it's supposed to be a natural raspberry flavour but tasted extremely unnatural. We use BetterYou sprays every day for general health and the usual taste is much better, more of a slight mintyness.

  1. How would you compare spray supplementation to other formats you’ve tried in the past?

I much prefer it. Much more convenient to my mind in general. With regards to those I tested, I didn't like the fact that you had to have so many sprays to reach the appropriate daily amount. The standard BetterYou sprays are much better for feeling you've quickly done the job. I don't have time in the day to remember 4 sprays for me or my children!

  1. Do you plan on continuing to use the spray/s you’ve been testing?

Definitely not. I wasn't sure who Madeleine Shaw was or if I was supposed to be interested in her back story but I didn't feel it was an addition to the range. Also, the children's health bottle (maybe just because it was a tester) was too big for my children to use (age 5 and 7). They couldn't put any power into the bottle, and it's much easier for them to be able to do this themselves.

1. Which product/s from the range did you test? What were your initial thoughts?

Children's Health & Hair, Skin and Nails. The sprays are a useful size and the packaging is attractive.

2. What did you think of the flavour of the spray/s you tried?

The DC like the flavour of the children's spray. The Hair, Skin and Nails spray was too fruity for my liking but I don't like the taste of mango and find artificial peach flavours horrible. That said, it wouldn't completely put me off the product in future.

3. How would you compare spray supplementation to other formats you’ve tried in the past?

Easy to use, particularly for children. I do wonder how effective they are though compared to more traditional delivery methods.

4. Do you plan on continuing to use the spray/s you’ve been testing?

We will continue to use the products we were testing and I might buy the children's one for my younger DC in future.
