Recruitment has now closed

IKEA are looking for UK Mumsnetters with at least 1 child aged between 3 - 10 to test their free supervised crèches SMÅLAND in their stores around the UK.

Selected testers will receive a £25 IKEA voucher to spend on their visit to IKEA.
Please see here for a list of stores that have a SMÅLAND.

Here’s what IKEA has to say:
“For many a trip to IKEA is a fun day out for the whole family. We take pride in ensuring there are features and facilities available that families need and with something for everyone to enjoy. Play facilities make shopping more fun and easy for families with children. Parents can relax and enjoy shopping, whilst children can learn and have fun.
Our supervised play facilities aim to provide a space where every child* can be an individual having new and memorable experiences, whilst opening their imagination and creating curiosity.
Please read here for more details about SMÅLAND, including information about children with additional needs. You can check here to locate your local store.”

If you’d like to test SMÅLAND, please sign up here.

Selected testers will be required to leave feedback on SMÅLAND by leaving their thoughts on a thread on Mumsnet as well as completing a short survey. Everyone who completes both sets of feedback will be entered into a prize draw where 3 x MNers will win a £100 IKEA voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

Standard Insight Terms and Conditions apply

*We know how important it is to provide children with additional needs 1:1 care on their first visit, so we can assess their individual needs.
In some cases, during busy times, you may be asked to take a later booking time in order for us to accommodate the 1:1 care. This allows us to determine, along with information provided by parents, if a child will require the same level of care for future sessions to ensure their individual needs are met.
Should you have any questions about how your child is integrating into our setting, please feel free to discuss this with the manager.

@notso sorry I know you asked weeks back but incase you still want to know. at ours you get an hour and they wouldn't start that time until after youd filled the forms and then they'd take the kids in.

Having done lots of supply work in my local Smaland, I can tell you they are great. Very very inclusive of children with additional needs, they do care plans for these children. I think they are great places, and it's a free service for up to an hour.

Do you still only get 30 minutes?
We've only used it once they put the kids in straight away and by the time I'd filled in all the forms for DS2's allergy medicine and inhalers I had under 20 minutes left.
It was pretty pointless.

I've never used the crèche either but we love a trip to Ikea and my daughter has just turned 3 :)

Is there a date we have to complete it by? We planned to go to ikea at the end of November and it'll be dd1s first time going to the crèche!

We don't use Småland. The idea of a shop crèche brought back memories of dodgy shopping centre crèches in the 90s. With old plasters in the ball pit Envy

I had no idea how supportive they were of children with additional needs. Clearly the whole crèche thing has modernised slightly from the being abandoned in a softplay Fram concept of my childhood. I might stop being evil and let the big kids go in next time Grin
