Hi everyone! I’m a first time mum and feeling very sleep deprived hoping someone could give me some advice! My 3 month old is waking every 2 hours for a feed In the night. He’s on the 90th centile and weighs over 6kg now so everything I read says he should be sleeping longer now? Some days pretty much refusing to eat in the day sometimes! Only having 1/2 bottles in the day and never wakes for them I have to force feed him pretty much.

Unfortunately at that age, waking every 2 hours is pretty normal! It’s not, ‘What to expect’ that told you that, is it? I’d ignore that, it’ll drive you crazy. Neither of mine ever did what that one said! If you want something a bit more helpful to read, I’d recommend Sarah Ockwell Smith’s books and follow her on Instagram.

I’m not sure about the day time feeding though. That seems less usual. Maybe speak to your Health Visitor about that.

Sorry it was normal for mine too.

Sorry, having read that again, I’m wondering if he has day and night a bit mixed up? Is he very sleepy during the day still?

I hope someone else is along with better advice soon!

Some babies wake up. Ignore what you’ve read! My daughter woke hourly til she was 18 months – 14 weeks is tiny!

What’s his day like? Plenty of noise and bright light and tummy time so he knows it’s day? Lots of fresh air? (Just bearing in mind I did all the bright, noise, fresh air, same wake-up time bollocks with DD and she still didn’t sleep.)

It’s very normal, but very hard. Try asking MNHQ to move this to the Sleep boards though!

Sooooo normal. To be honest I think 2 hour chunks at a time is pretty good, some babies wake every 30 minutes. If you feel you're getting very tired than make sure you look up the Lullaby Trusts safe sleep 7, so you can make you bed safe incase you accidentally fall asleep. I did that loads.
