We're delighted that Clare Balding is joining us for a live webchat next Monday 9 July at 1.30pm. Clare has been a presenter, writer and broadcaster for more than 15 years. Since becoming the face of the BBC's racing coverage in 1998 she's become known as one of Britain's leading sports presenters, and has gone on to work on four Olympic Games, three Paralympics and three Winter Olympics. From horse racing to rugby league, swimming to golf or to tennis, she is renowned for being able to turn her hand to any sport.

Since 2010 Clare has hosted Crufts for the BBC, and on More4, and has become established as one of the UK's leading presenters of live major events, such as the Lord Mayor's Show and Trooping the Colour. Clare will be presenting on the London 2012 Olympics for the BBC and hosting the Paralympics for Channel 4.

This September, Clare will release My Animals and Other Family, a funny and tender memoir of her early years, the pets and animals around her and the life lessons they taught her.

Put the date in your diary to join Clare next Monday, 9 July at 1.30 pm or post your question in advance on this thread.

Claire you are an utter legend! Favourite sports presenter by far. So well prepared, knowledgeable and respectful to the sportsmen and women you interview.

Fuck the Telegraph and whoever regurgitated it. Utter twats. Smile

Just read the DM article. Wtf??? It's a nonsense.

Report
HazeltheMcWitch · 10/07/2012 14:40

Utter bilge indeed.

Can anyone top that? Well, the DM have tried, by making look as though the wonderous CB and Lily Allen had a twitter spat over it ...when actually a few, nice, supportive tweets were exchanged instead.

Linky to ''For the record, I do not think being a lesbian makes me a better sports presenter': Clare Balding's Twitter rant to Lily Allen HERE

The article itself doesn't seem too bad. The headline is a fucking disgrace. What utter bilge.

TwelveLeggedWalk · 10/07/2012 13:41

That 'article' has the feel of something a shoddy sub has got their hands on to 'jazz up' in a hurry.

Dear Telegraph

You have just proved you are a useless fucking newspaper and I will be delighted never to buy or read your lazy, nasty, derivative rag again, and to encourage everyone I know to do the same.

Now fuck off.
........................................................

Dear Clare

I now admire you more than ever.

Love, LR x

Typical of the Telegraph, hideous rag of a paper (imo), insular, snide, judgemental whilst pretending to be something else.

Nothing that she didn't say, just out of context and without permission - link.
She has commented about it on Twitter.

Report
BIWItheBold · 10/07/2012 08:25

Oh no! What did they say?

So sorry to see that the Telegraph has used this webchat to make a cheap article from and upset Clare.
Can nothing be done to stop the press stealing quotes from MN without permission?

Loved her answers, she was just as nice and funny on here as she seems on TV. I can't stand most sport but am tempted to put her book on my Amazon wishlist... Grin

Nicholas, she's a regular Tweeter if you do that sort of thing.

Dammit I missed it. Sad I didn't have a question for Clare, I just wanted to say I think she's the finest presenter on the television at the moment.

I am so pleased that despite a prompt and definitive answer on the subject of biscuits, Clare still managed to cause controversy at Mumsnet Towers.

Well done Clare - you go girl!

She actually answered my question!!! I feel slightly overcome Blush

She is as lovely as we all said, isn't she? Can't believe she managed to answer so many questions so quickly too!
