Title says it all in an nutshell really.

Last year I had 3 miscarriages. One in April, had a private scan and it showed a 1cm empty sac, was told to go back a week later but by this point I was bleeding, so miscarriage was confirmed. Took us till October to fall again, which ended In a chemical. December, fell pregnant again, which ended in miscarriage. Was referred to the miscarriage clinic and had my appointment on feb 4th this year, found out I was pregnant 2 days later.

Feb 6th, first positive test. I was started on progesterone pessaries which I’m in till I’m 16 weeks, along with higher dose folic acid and low dose aspirin.

Had a scan on feb 19th which showed a 3mm empty sac and was told to come back a week later, went back on feb 26th and again, empty sac but was 7mm this time and she said I was 5 weeks instead of 6+4 if you count from my last LMP which was January 11th. Again, come back a week later and I’m due there this Friday.

I’ve not been bleeding, I’ve not really had many pregnancy signs. Tests are staying stronger and took digital weeks which have progressed from 1-2, 2-3 and I got 3+ last Thursday.

I’ve fully conceived myself it’s another miscarriage like my one in April last year. I’ve read so many threads and for every positive story there is 10 negative.

I just want to know if any has any knowledge on this or any advice. I’m going out of my mind

Hopefully the time passes quickly @MollySxx I found my midwife was really lovely and even called to check on me a few weeks later, which was nice. I hope yours is supportive.
Definitely have some distractions, lots of love ❤️

@VenusStarr I am in work today and then off for the next 3 days. Also have a phone call midwife appointment on Thursday which I see no point in. But let’s just carry on🤦🏼‍♀️ Going to try and just blank it from my mind as 2 weeks is a longgggg time

It's really difficult @MollySxx, with my first pregnancy I had an empty sac and then they found the yolk sac and foetal pole and the epu reassured us it could work out OK. Sadly for us it didn't, but that's not to say your pregnancy might be different. It's hard to strike a balance with hope.
Do what you need to do to get through until the scan - I tend to be off work and just do calming things like walks and films, anything that's comforting ❤️ xx

@VenusStarr that’s what is worrying me, the 2mm growth a week apart. Which they didn’t mention to be as a concern. I only really thought about it when someone on here mentioned it and now I can’t help but think about it. Trying not to let my mind go into overdrive. But I do find myself keep checking for blood when I wipe🤦🏼‍♀️x

I'm sorry you're in this horrible limbo phase @MollySxx ❤️ it's a confusing time, positive that there's been some growth but not quite what they expect to see. I hope these next couple of weeks pass quickly for you and you get good news. Lots if live xxx

@VenusStarr thank you for thinking of me🥰

An update on yesterday, was just expecting bad news, had prepared myself already. But a yolk sac was found and the sac was now 9mm. The consultant went over my HCG bloods I had earlier in pregnancy, and my 2 previous scans and he wants to give me 2 weeks wait now to hopefully see some progression. They said I’m 6-7 weeks on scan, but not showing milestones for that. But they could of just scanned me to early, or I have a slower grower and dates could be out. But if I’m 2 weeks there is no progression now they see a yolk sac, a miscarriage will be diagnosed. So again, walking away very dishearten in a 2 week limbo🥺

I am so sorry to hear about your girls @MollySxx ❤️ that must have been so difficult. It doesn't feel like enough to say I'm sorry, but there aren't any suitable words xx

I think no matter how much we try to prepare ourselves for bad news, it is always a shock. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow xx

@VenusStarr I agree, I feel like the NHS is very limited in what they can do. And it’s sad that you have to pay a silly amount to get answers.

1 loss isn’t normal in my opinion, and it’s never bad luck. I hate that term when I’ve been told it. “Just bad luck, the next one will stick” and here I am hoping for a sticker, but still facing this “bad luck”

I’ve set myself up for bad news, I’ve fully convinced myself it’ll be “sorry, this is will a miscarriage” I just know I’m about to hear those words in 24 hours time.

I shall look into the karyotyping, 100% will mention it.

I had a stillbirth in 2015 with my identical twin girls at 24 weeks. But they were really poorly and I had to have surgery which was 50/50 on survival rate and sadly their hearts stopped beating after the surgery. So I can carry a baby past the first trimester, it’s just why are these losses all happening now 6 years later🥺

You could also ask for parental blood karyotyping @MollySxx, we managed to get that after my last loss in October (they usually say after 5 losses 😔) but this can look for you or your partner being genetic carriers or balanced translocation. It came back clear for us, but is worth looking into. We were at the point of ruling things out, so managed to narrow the issues down. I'm glad you've already had some testing, but it is soul destroying to feel like you aren't getting any answers.
My private specialist told me that 4 losses isn't normal and something is contributing to that, it is not just bad luck. Sadly the nhs isn't really equipped to help on lots of cases.

I really hope Friday goes OK, let me know, if you feel up to it xx

@VenusStarr so sorry you’ve gone through such a hard time🥺

So I had all the tests done, the thyroid, sticky blood, thrombophilla, had a pelvis scan which showed the lining of my womb fine, around my womb all fine, but I had mild cysts on my ovaries. So was tested for polycystic ovaries, which came back clear and the cysts were classed as functional cysts.

I feel like in my case the baby has never developed. I feel like that’s what I’ve always been told. In april last year the sac was empty and was just told it didn’t develop, October was the chemical, December, I just started bleeding naturally, and now with me having scans the sac has been empty, so they are still saying it could be to early or the baby won’t develop. I’m just so disheartened by it. If this is my 4th loss, then I hope they do some more tests.

Sending my love to you, and thank you for your response x

I'm sorry you're in the limbo @MollySxx it's really difficult. I've had 4 recurrent losses and no living children. I'm glad you're under a miscarriage clinic and have support. I'm guessing as you were pregnant, you haven't had any tests yet? They usually test for things like thyroid, lupus anticoagulant / sticky bloods. This can give answers. They might also check for uterine abnormalities like a septum or fibroids.

We've moved on from the nhs as we didn't get any answers for our losses, but there was a pattern, I've had 3 MMCs where the babies stopped growing at the same point and one chemical loss. I've been diagnosed with an overactive immune system that attacks the pregnancy so taking lots of medication to suppress my immune system. This isn't something the nhs does test for, but there's growing evidence for this.

I hope Friday brings some clarity and hopefully good news. If it isn't good news, I would recommend having your baby tested. My last baby was tested and came back with no chromosomal or genetic abnormalities, which is heartbreaking, but it did give more support to the theory that something else was happening for us, we'd been fobbed off by 'it's probably chromosomal issues'.

A good book to read is Miscarriage, what every woman needs to know by Professor Regan, that helped me know all the possible reasons and what seemed to make sense for our situation, so I knew what tests to ask for. Best wishes xx

@PlanDeRaccordement I’m under fertility care and none of that has been mentioned regarding STI’s, which may I add I’ve never had.

I’ve suffered from bacterial vaginosis in the past and in January Group B was found and I was treated with penicillin which I finished the course of a couple days after I found out I was pregnant. Was told both of which aren’t/wouldn’t be the reasons for the previous miscarriages.

I’m still as it stands now pregnant, until otherwise confirmed. So heartbroken is a strong word, slightly going mentally insane waiting for the scans is the term what I’d prefer to use

I am so sorry you are going through such an ordeal. It is not usual to have miscarriages all in a row like that. I would personally ask GP for referral to a Gynecologist and get a full sexual health panel and check done. Test for all STIs, test for all bacterial and viral infections that are not STIsbut known to affect fertility and cause miscarriages.

Some STIs like chlamydia can lurk symptomless for years (15yrs in some cases) and then both affect your fertility and is known to cause miscarriages. It could also not be an STI but as simple as a GBS (Group B Streptococcus) infection which is caused by bacterial overgrowth in the vagina spreading upwards and affecting your uterine environment.

You must be heartbroken. The good news though is the fact you can and donfall pregnant easily which is over 90% of the battle. There is so much hope for you. I’ve miscarried and had four living babies. I wish you future happiness Flowers
