Been dieting all week with the help of phentermine, trying to lose weight I thought it’s Sunday today I’ll treat myself so had breakfast all good made a lovely dinner with all my favourites a treat, might as well enjoy it while I can as I have to go back on my die Tomorrow so went to the shop got crisps chocolate had them then as I was laying In bed I started to feel a bit peckish and once again I thought to myself it’s Sunday have to go on my diet tomorrow so I have to eat while I can and I ordered McDonald’s but my eyes are bigger than my stomach and I ordered a large chicken sandwich meal, a double cheeseburger a chicken mayo and veggie dippers with a brownie and I ate it all now I feel so uncomfortably full I know I’m going to wake up and some point during the night to vomit I just know it that’s how full I feel and I just can’t resist I can’t resist food unless I’m on phentermine or something similar I didn’t take any today

But if you didn’t eat 4 main menu items at once, you wouldn’t need to diet. Could you maybe invest in some therapy for unpicking the reasons for your binge eating? Why do you see it as a ‘treat’ when it leaves you physically and emotionally so awful? It’s not a treat, it’s a punishment!

Beat have links for how to find a therapist in your area, it might be more cost effective that buying prescriptions, assuming it’s a private prescription?

Today is done, don’t beat yourself up about it. Maybe sleep propped up a bit so you don’t throw up though. I hope you don’t have to rough a night.

Tomorrow is a new day. I honestly think you have to start off with very strict keto and then move to low carb. You need to rid yourself of the cravings and I think just having no sugar and under 20 carbs a day for about a month does that. I felt amazing at first but did get a bit obsessed and made myself unwell after about 3 months and I've moved to low carb and find that much more sustainable. Not sure I'd be managing it as well if I hadn't done keto first though.

Obviously some people manage keto as a lifestyle but it wasn't for me.

I stick to around 100g carbs a day.

@BigBoysDontCry i tried Keto and found it too restrictive and my problem is when the diet is too restrictive I’m more likely to binge eat so I’m trying low carb now because carbs are my favourite foods and when I can’t have them I do good on my diet for a couple of weeks then I completely go off the rails when I can’t resist anymore and just eat and eat for a few days and then don’t have the willpower to go back to dieting so that’s why I’m trying low carb now with the help of phentermine

@FiveWordsWillDoNotEightyFive i use to be so good at dieting if I started a diet I’d stick to it kept the weight off for years but then I started crash dieting I started obsessing over my weight if I wanted to lose weight quick and at this point I was say size 8 but it I wanted to get down to size 6 for an event or an occasion even with everyone telling me I didn’t need to lose weight that I was already skinny I’d crash diet or I’d make myself sick then binge eat then crash diet one day I tried to diet and I just couldn’t stick to it anymore I don’t know why I started binge eating more and more and that was about 4 years ago I’ve never been a size 8 since always 12 don’t know why my willpower disappeared or how I can get it back again

Honestly I think you'd be better trying to get a referral to a dietary psychology team for disordered eating. I got a referral after my dalliance with keto as I was struggling to eat at all. In the end I declined the referral as I'd sorted myself out and am happy on low carb. I'm now slightly underweight and was doing keto for blood sugar reasons. I've stopped losing and have managed to put on 2lb in the last couple of months which doesn't sound much but I've come to realise that it's hard to put on weight without sugar and high carbs.

Good luck with it.

Phentermine? That is dangerous stuff, banned in the UK for a reason. Please bin it.

See your GP as a starting point. I was referred by hospital as I was sent there directly from my GP appointment. I was lucky to be sent to an assessment unit who happened to have an available diabetic consultant there that day. I was also referred to a dietician. I've been released from all hospital/dietary services now. As I said, the driver for me was lowering blood sugar rather than weight.

From what you are saying here, it sounds like you have or are on your way to having an eating disorder that goes beyond just normal dieting.

I know nothing about the tablets you are taking but that doesn't sound a good idea.

@notmorezoom they can’t be banned as I buy them from my local pharmacy? They have a special weight loss clinic and they weight you to see if your bmi is high enough before giving them that cost £32 for one week supply

Phentermine has been bannned in the UK for over 20 years. Doesn't stop some dodgy people selling it........

I would suggest you report the pharmacist to the GPhC so they can stop him/her harming other people https://www.pharmacyregulation.org/

I'd also wonder how anyone who is a size 12, no matter how short they might be, would have a high enough bmi to warrant medication.

I have to do strict keto otherwise I cannot control how many carbs I eat.

The only “sweet” thing I have that doesn’t trigger me is 90% dark chocolate.

I have to abstain. I am a carb addict so I can’t even have one. I treat myself like an alcoholic. You would never suggest an alcoholic drink in moderation.

Unfortunately allopathic medicine doesn’t recognise carb addiction. They call it “binge eating syndrome” but it’s not. It’s carbs. I don’t binge steak and broccoli.

Strict keto is your way out of this OP. I was you x

@BigBoysDontCry I have a bmi of 33.5

@TropDrôle i tried keto I just can’t do it carbs make up 90% of what I mostly eat and cooking for my family on a daily basis makes it very hard to refuse like I don’t really fry much I mostly make boiled foods like stews that contain carbs like potatoes and carrots, they do have other veg like cabbage and broccoli, i make different types of pasta, chicken curry and rice, Sunday roast on Sundays etc so everything I make contains carbs and since I can’t put my family on a keto diet with me i just can’t resist I can’t say no when my favourite foods are in front of me having to look at it and smell it while it’s cooking and the only veg I like are carrots, potatoes, sweet potatoes, cabbage, broccoli cauliflower, sweetcorn and that’s about it really so when I’m on keto it doesn’t leave very many options

@TropDrôle this what I ate today this morning I had a protein shake for breakfast, then I had one slice of seeded brown bread no butter with one boiled egg, but the phentermine made me feel sick and it also gives you a very dry mouth so I only ate half of that because it felt like I was chewing chalk, and I just started to feel nausea not sure if it was due to the phentermine or due to not eating, and my niece was eating crisps so I had a few of her crisps and that’s it I probably won’t eat anything for dinner but if I do it will more than likely just be a few bites of something and then a protein shake
