Low-carb bootcamp

Week 3 - May Low Carb Bootcamp - you've survived the first fortnight!

Hello everyone. Smile I'm starting this week's thread as BIWI's away and Sayra's internet connection is a bit unreliable.

Here is the The Spreadsheet of Fabulousness.

Here is the weight tracker.

So firstly, a massive WELL DONE! for surviving the first fortnight. You now have the option of moving to Bootcamp Light, which means that you can introduce low carb fruits (berries, basically - raspberries, strawberries, red and blackcurrants) and nuts to your diet. Be careful though, as this can add a lot of carbs. Nuts, especially, can be very moreish. Some people stay longer on Bootcamp proper, some do Bootcamp Light at weekends and drink wine. I'm sure BIWI will be along when she gets the chance, to give you all some pointers.

Good luck with the weigh in, everyone, and please remember that weight loss is not a linear thing. Don't be discouraged if you haven't seen as much of a loss as you'd like - just KOKO and The Whoosh Fairy will visit you, whisking away a sudden whoosh of weight. Wink

B: tea with milk
L: chilli & lemon pork belly, cucumber
D: salmon and 1/2 cauliflower roasted in garlic and olive oil. Made a quick cold blitzed sauce of basil, parsley, sorrel, capers, grain mustard, lemon and olive oil. Yum.

Glad to hear I made you laugh Romey.

Heman that sounds lovely. I would live to visit Cornwall one day. When I can drive. And afford to holiday in the UK.

Crackling can be revived in a hot frying pan. As for the left over pork, I'm not familiar with the concept of left over pork belly but I would pan fryuntil crisp with a few shallots and mushrooms, then remove the pork to rest and deglaze the pan with a little stock or wine. Whisk in some double cream and grainy mustard and you've got yourself a heck of a weekday dinner....

Glad the vomit storm has passed lisba! Could you cube the pork belly up and fry it off with garlic, ginger, chilli, shallot, chinese 5 spice and a dash of soy? Maybe throw in stir fry veg with it or stir fry veg served separately?

Hi all, just back from a weekend away and think food wise it went well:

Friday night, fish curry made with coconut milk and no rice, followed by 3 gin and soda

Breakfast both days bacon and eggs fried in butter, lunch yesterday pork belly salad, picked the apple out the salad and loads Mayo dinner last night, steak tomato and rocket salad followed by cheese spread with butter and none of the crackers!!
Lunch today was in a service station which had an M and S food store so one packet of corned beef and three mini Brie wedges. Flaw of the weekend not enough water, only had two liters since yesterday morning.

By the third drink on Friday night was living the gun and soda, tried a sip of a gin and tonic last night and it was far too sweet, so sida may become my new mixer!! Xoxo

DD seems better - thankfully only one bout of vomit and she's stayed off food since so I am hoping she'll be on the mend in the morning. Desperately hoping that she hasn't passes it to DD2, Dh or me, but I guess we will have to deal with that if it happens!

It does mean no school tomorrow which is a bit of a pita but luckily I am in my penultimate week of current job and working from home so I can get away with doing bugger all!

My appetite returned so I ate a gorgeous roast dinner - the best crackling ever! Just a bit gutted that we have half the joint of pork left and I can't imagine pork crackling keeps very well, does it? Any suggestions of what to do with leftover pork belly? Reheat as it is or could I turn it into some kind of porky casserole?

Hahaha, yes, it could have been worse - there was no axe wielding maniac and I was on the outside.

No old style hinges; I am now trialling the very latest design of open plan bathroom though. You don't need an axe to create the look, a hammer and chisel will do

Thanks for making me laugh, though Flowers honestly, time for a cup of tea, most definitely.

Romey Have you got the older style hinges that you can just pull a pin out of and lift the door off the hinges?

Thank gawd it does make sense BIWI! I've not lost the plot yet! I still have my running kit, a neat pile on the wardrobe shelf, taunting me. I'm on call tomorrow night but DS has an evening activity on Tuesday for 3 hours. I've made up my mind I'm restarting then. I can repeat on Thursday and Saturday then. I may do a couple of Davina's 7 minute fitness sections tomorrow.

dillite we went to Cornwall, the weather was fantastic. My Dad has a holiday apartment there so we go alot and have been for years. It's lovely and relaxing, we meet up with folks every year, which is great. But this year it added to the 'here we go again, Fatty' feelings. We're back again in the Summer Hols. I'm determined to feel differently about myself then. Portugal sounds fab Smile.

Enlighten me, I have not seen the film, are you referring to how I pee in the garden or how I break down the door?!?!?

Hi everyone , I'm not on boot camp but started low carb about a month ago , I lost a lot of weight with it a few years ago but then I became Poorly & lost my appetite .

That started me nibbling at the wrong foods ( biscuits etc) just to get something in my tum & eating whatever was prepared so obviously the weight slowly went back on.

I've been lurking around these threads & have found my inspiration to get back low carbing again , I love seeing what you all are eating & it's really spurring me on !!

Well done all of you who are doing bootcamp!
I hope you all continue to post your meals !! Smile

Day out with DH and DS in London today but managed to eat at a burger place that did a 'skinny' cheeseburger without the bun or fries, with a green side salad and some courgette fries. Delicious ??

Welcome back, Herman. Where did you go? I'm off to Portugal in 2 weeks. Can't wait!

Biwi there are several reasons- first and most important one is that I just love to bake. It's a hobby and I just enjoy the whole process of it. Unlike daily/ savoury cooking, it's not something I have to do because food has to be served. Also I am very good at it- as long as there's a recipe to follow.

Then there's the whole greed that comes with getting to eat the results unless I manage to give them away. Why it's there I've no idea, it has always been there for as long as I remember. I used to steal sweets as a child and just munch on them. I once read that addict children are often predisposed to addictions themselves.

How will I manage to cotrol carbs? Well there's the option of giving them up completely and be miserable like I am now, or find new ways of getting that sweetness but one that's not a mound of sugar and is more compatible with this diet.
