Morning all! Sorry for later-than-usual start to the thread

Hope last week was good, and that you have managed to keep to it despite the fact that we are in the infamous weeks 3 and 4!

If you haven't seen the scales move, don't panic!

This is really, really common - keep on keeping on and from here on, hopefully things will start to move again. And you will know that every pound you lose from here on, will be fat. You are only likely to see losses of 1-2lbs every week, but don't forget how much a pound of fat is - imagine 2 packs of lard, and that's what you're losing for each pound!

I'd never say it was exactly like cake but it did the trick for me after three days of crazy sugar cravings. Will add more butter next time - ha ha, seems to be my motto for everything nowadays!

I think I tried it with cheese last time I was on BC and remember it being nice. Thanks for the reminder.

Just had another read of the comments, Haunted, and someone has pointed out that the recipe says 1tsp butter but the nutrition is worked out on 1tbs. Maybe that's the secret!

I can recommend Biwi's chicken pizza. Been doing something similar that I got from one of Hubs SW books ages ago. It hits the spot if you feel the need for a pizza. Even before I went LC I missed pizza. I hate gluten free bread like poison so couldn't stomach the gluten free pizza bases. I always have home made tomato sauce in the freezer so its a quick and tasty meal with chips for the blokes and a bowl of salad for me. Smile

Haunted, that's the one I used. Maybe it needs more butter or maybe I need to cook it less. The version I did using cheese instead of the sweet flavourings was really nice. I added a dollop of mustard to the egg as it intensifies the cheesey taste. I make oopsie bread to use for the odd sandwich but I don't like that with flax added so I wanted to experiment a bit with the muffins.

Today:
B - yogurt and berries
Snack - an avocado
L - chorizo, peppers, onion and 2 fried eggs
Snack - cheese and olives
Dinner - beef stew, swede mash, cabbage

(the swede in the microwave was so easy - thanks for the tip )

Neeenah, neeenah. BC disaster here. Did everything we discussed up-thread NOT doing - wavered a little and then headed straight for the disaster zone. Feeling very disappointed in myself. I was so relieved and proud to have kicked the sugar habit for a time.

Oh well, it's pick myself up, dust myself off and get back into the fray tomorrow. And spend the upcoming week trying to undo the work of a self-destructive Sunday Sad . But I suppose that's how progress goes - in a wavering line.

Miffy this is the recipe I used, was passable - recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detail.asp?recipe=1397771 I used half a tsp of Splenda and I think the same of cinnamon. Topped it with some whipped up cream with vanilla which was lovely.


Today has been good food wise but I may have had too much wine

B: BPC
L: chicken Caesar salad, gave croutons to DH and ditched anchovies - yuck
D: steak, Stilton mushroom, salad which was basically a lettuce leaf with carrot and red onion - ate a bit of it but not too much

So my tough weekend has panned out pretty good but I think today's wine might scupper me tomorrow. Still proud though that I have stayed away from all obvious carbs including a lush looking dessert menu.

Ooh that sounds nice BIWI. I shall give that a go!

My base was ok - fairly firm, crispy on the edges but a bit soggy in the middle. Think a whole egg was too much moisture. Pretty sure I could tweak it and get it working.

Also thinking if I can get the base completely solid, the base on it's own would make a tasty portable snack!

sayra almost makes South Korea worth moving to!

Ahh, just found it. It is KFC in South Korea and they use two coated (not with breadcrumbs but not sure what) chicken breasts as the "bun". No good Smile

I keep meaning to try that BIWI but never actually done it...tomorrow.

It also reminds me that OH told me today that somewhere (BK, McDs, KFC) somewhere like that are doing a bunless burger and using chicken as the bun instead?! I'll see if I can find it.

Re caulipizza - whilst I like it, I've never quite got the base right, and it can be a bit of a faff. An alternative is to use a chicken breast as the base. Sounds weird, but it's good!

Cut a chicken breast open, by cutting it almost in half lengthways - open it out and then cover it with cling film and beat it flat with a rolling pin. You're aiming to get it pizza base thin.
Season it and then flash fry it in a frying pan; you're only looking at a minute or so each side.

Then put the chicken on a baking tray/a pizza stone, whatever you usually use and top with your usual tomato sauce/toppings/cheese, and bake for about 10 minutes until the cheese is melted/browned as you like it.

clash I really like the caulipizza as well, it took me about 4 attempts before I got it right Grin

Charlie that isn't great about the steaks. I am sure though that what you will have consumed carbwise will be quite low. Well done on the good choices eating out, it can be difficult sometimes can't it?

please I am not sure, I don't count my coffee/tea as water but I guess it might be ok. Hopefully someone who knows will be able to answer.

Hi Ditzy welcome Smile Sounds like you've had a good start, well done. Once BC finishes there is usually a continuing thread until the next BC starts. As Miffy said though, there are plenty of us who LC all the time so we will always be around.

Hi mrskoala as MrsHP said don't worry about dairy. It doesn't cause a stall in everyone. I seem to be ok, I have cream in coffee everyday and often have yogurt and cheese as well. Just see how it goes, I am no expert (in LC or BF (no children)) but I imagine you will need a bit more than the rest of us if you are BF.

Thanks Rybka hope you find your jeans soon. I am hoping that these jeans will be temporary and that very soon I'll need a smaller size Smile

I think I am going to have an early night, I have a sore head Sad Had a good weekend though the weather is awful here. I was looking after a friends house and needed to ride her horses. I rode yesterday in the wind and then today in the wind (27 mph) and horizontal rain! I was soaked and not sure the horse was too please Grin

Food Today

B: Two sausages, coffee with cream
L: Coconut porridge
D: Lamb, ratatouille, asparagus wrapped in bacon
S: Two squares of Lindt intense orange chocolate (20g carbs)

Evenin all!

Feeling accomplished today, cut my own hair for the first time and made cauliflower pizza.

I was pleasantly surprised, it was very satisfying. Base wasn't too soggy, either and will defo be making it again - pizza is one of the things I do miss.

Had it with ham mushrooms cheese and a salad on the size.

Well done Sayra T,great pics! I am a woman on the jeans mission as well, have been too Next, TKMaxx, BHS, Debenhams and lot more...lost my track...Not too many options for 6ft tall woman so ordered some from Marisota. I personaly can not digest prices from Long Tall Sally especialy considering that I need to lose another 14 kg so new trousers won't be forever. I hope to lose I should say Wink

Haunted, which recipe do you use for you muffin in a minute? I made a cheesey one that turned out fine but my sweet ones are like hockey pucks! Wondering if I need more fat. Not something I intend to have in quantity but just a fall-back for days when everyone else is on cake or pudding and I'm feeling peevish! I tried a recipe using almonds which was nice but the oxalate in the almonds is giving me trouble so I've been trying the recipe with all flax meal.

mrskoala of course you are welcome - everyone is welcome! You day looks fine to me. I wouldn't worry about the dairy too much at first (I am right in remembering you are bfing?), if your weight loss stops then you could always cut back on it then and see if that helps. Some people find too much dairy slows them down, and others don't so see how it goes for you!

Haunted it might just be salt rather than dairy. Its higher in salt than you might think. I find that cheese is generally OK for me if its just the odd bit but if I have a large serving or I snack on it too often I have a gain but then dump it all a couple of days later. I get that if I have something like a cauli cheese. I've got used to it and don't weigh the day after! Maybe experiment a bit before you decide to dump something that's so useful.

Hi, Brilliant thread. I started two weeks ago low carbing and have lost 5 or 6 pounds. Im not doing strict bootcamp though.
Question.......where does everyone go when they have finished bootcamp please? Is there another thread somewhere for ongoing low carbers?

Another pound off, that is 3in 3 days so now 5 pounds up. I have a horrendous headache. Does green tea count towards your water count. I really struggle to drink pints of water but drink a lot of tea.

Morning all,

So, cheese it seems is defineitely not my friend. 1lb up on yesterday after my dairy overload. Not overly bothered as it's good to know, and I did enjoy that Camembert.

Just having a BPC after a 5k inval run and feeling really good despite not eating yet today. DS is away at the in-laws so DH and I are off to do some christmas shopping in a bit and will have lunch out plus we are going out for tea to make the most of out child-free day. So lots of challenges but I am feeling strong willed and sure I'll find a way round anything that's thrown at me. There will be will. That's a given.

Sorry for sounding so evangelical today, just feeling good Smile

Went out last night and hopefully things will be ok. I had one vodka and soda and a steak with garlic butter and a side of broccoli with chilli followed by the cheese plate with just celery and a couple of grapes. Annoyingly on the allergy menu the steak wasn't gluten free and contained wheat! Assume this was some kind of rub or dusting to get the outside crisp, but it couldn't be adjusted, which I think is terrible given that the steak tends to be the 'go to' standby for 2 friends who genuinely are coeliac.

Morning everyone

I'm taking DD to visit relative for a few days as its half term so won't be able to weigh in on Monday so updating a day early

Have lost a pound so that's 8lbs in total so far! just have to hope i don't have any slip ups while away there are some particularly delicious take aways that we usually visit
