Can we have a thread on this? I see great stuff on the main thread (someone mentioned cooked belly pork slices) but, like recipes, it moves so quickly that I lose things and can't keep up!

I should probably start with something I've discovered. But I haven't... I just steal other people's ideas. But I'm off to lidl today so looking for inspiration

Thought I would share a ready mixed spice I find useful for making fried fish and chicken extra nice. Its the thyme lemon and bay salt mill from Jamie Oliver which is stocked in Sainsbury's. But then I love salt!

Went shopping in farmfoods today and bought 2 200g packs of president Brie for a pound!

A pound of butter is also only £2 (about twice the size of a standard block).

Cocoa butter - makes bulletproof coffee taste slightly like a non sweet mocha. Very tasty.

Those of you missing 'proper' tea with milk (there's only so much coffee I can drink), I discovered these in Waitrose yesterday:

www.lactofree.co.uk/products/portion-packs/ - I'm sure they sell them elsewhere too - works out at 0.54g carb per 20ml portion and it was more than enough for a mug of tea (a bit too milky, tbh, would probably do me 2 cups!) - I've now got a couple in my handbag in case of emergencies.

Ordinary fridge full fat Lactofree is 2.8g per 100ml, which again isn't too shabby.

colette I have been using coconut oil for years to help with my thyroid. I think this is the best tasting one www.amazon.co.uk/Nutiva-Organic-Extra-Virgin-Coconut/dp/B004NTCE1M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1391304356&sr=8-1&keywords=nutiva%20coconut%20oil&tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21 and it's organic and cold pressed.

Lidl has a 500g bag of echalion shallots for £1 each. I may have stocked up and am planning a peel, chop and freeze tomorrow.

Divine 70% chocolate with chilli and orange is my favourite treat. I only need a square or two here and there and it's a perfect luxury for those times when nothing else will do.

Unearthed garlic king prawns are yummy, 1g carb per 100.

Unearthed pork rilettes from Waitrose (they were reduced to 50p whooopp!) are really delicious. Had some as a lunch wrapped in little gem and then last night I added some to cauli rice and fried up in butter and oil. It was really delicious, richly meaty and a great texture with the slightly firm rice.
