Hello all, I am new to Mumsnet (although have used it before as a reference in UK), and also new to Melbourne having moved over a few weeks ago! Feeling a bit overwhelmed at the moment and just wondered if there were any Aussie/ expat mums around for school/nursery/playground tips!

hi DC

I am going to drive in but I have to leave quite early (5pmish) as I am doing a job in St Kilda on the way. Wilbs is coming with me so why don't you leave your car at Sandringham station and then I can give you a lift back to there when we leave (I'm sure I can squeeze you in around the dreadful mess and car seats that is my car!)

You can basically park almost right outside the station at the time you'll be coming and its a direct ride into the city (not sure where you get off is the only thing) - does anyone know the station ???

xx

Hi Ladies,
How are we all doing for tomorrow?
Melbournemum, have you decided how you are getting into the city? Wasn't sure what to do with my car and wondered if it might be easier to park near to you and then get the train?
Not sure what would be easier - anyone else heading in from the south of the city?

Hi Superloopy

Thanks for that. Will definitely have to meet up with you all some time in the future. A playcentre sounds good.

Hope you all have a great time on friday

Hi hkgirl,
Nice to see another new person here, the Melbourne gang is growing!!
Shame you can't join us for our night out but I know how important family visits are when you are far from home. I'm sure we will catch up sometime in the future tho'.
I think we will be having a kid day out soon at a playcentre.
Anyway stay in touch....

Hi there

Can I join in too? Would love to meet you all at some point but unfortunately can't make your meet as my brother is in town.

I have moved over to Melbourne with my aussie husband after living in HK for 4 years. I am originally from Essex and have 2 boys aged 3 and 11 months.

I'm living in Blackburn and have made a few friends already but would love to make more.

If anyone wants to meet up some time that would be great otherwise I would love to come on your next meet if I'm welcome

hkgirl

Brill. Thanks Ghosty for booking. I've changed my e-mail address since we last spoke, but I'm pretty sure that you have my new one...
Now just got to hope that our tax return comes through before next Friday

tangox3 ... can you email me - ghostyandmeg(at)bigpond(dot)com
That way I can send an email to all confirming those details - I booked the table in my name and don't fancy posting my name on here.
Got pictures of you being the first to turn up saying, "Um, yeah, I am waiting for some people. The table is booked in the name of ... umm ... ghosty?"

Done!
Table booked for 7.30pm Friday 26th October ...

DCsnatchsunhill · 14/10/2007 12:10

Yes please. Ghosty, could we make it 7.30pm please? That way I can pop home and shower first, instead of getting changed in the work toilets [yuk emoticon]

Hey, I'm really excited....

No worries. I'm at a bit of a loss as the only time I eat out anywhere except locally is when dh's v.generous boss and his wife take us out in the city!

I have a friend who might be able to recommend somewhere...will give her a call.

Report
superloopy · 11/10/2007 13:53

Ooohh that place looks yummy but... with the amount of food I am putting away these days I may have to rob a corner store on the way to afford the 3 courses I am planning!!

I must add as I am driving that I am happy to go anywhere as long as it is easy for everyone else to get to.
Southbank? Casino?

I am so looking forward to this night out!!! No fussy DH or DD to chase around after! Yay!! I just need to find something to wear...

DCsnatchsunhill · 11/10/2007 12:25

hang on...will have a look....
Hmmmm, looks absolutely delicious but yes, it does seem a tad pricey. Thank you though for the link!
I don't know anywhere in the City at all so I am no help, but how about a place where we can relax and chat, and the food is cheap-ish and cheerful? Don't mean really cheeep, just mean cheerfully cheap IYKWIM.
Anyone know of this place that I'm talking about ???
