(Classic?) French films for 14 year olds

Hi posting here in the hope of more 'traffic'.

Could anyone please recommend some classic French films for 14 year old English children (boys and girls).

The teens concerned are native English speakers and French learners. Their level of French isn't high but they are generally intelligent and have a basic understanding of the language. (Presumably many films have sub-titles anyway.) Don't want anything too risqué as I am a godparent to one of the children concerned!

Any suggestions gratefully received! Thank you!

While you're looking at Louis de Funès films, there is also L'aile ou la cuisse which is concerned with the Duchemin guide which bears more than a passing resemblance to the Michelin guide. It's very funny, especially when we can remember French restaurants from the 80s that were probably just like one on the film behind the scenes.

Also a recent film, but maybe for in a year or two is Vive la France. It's about a small country called Taboulistan who decide that their national dish, taboulé, should be attributed to the country where it was invented. They decide the best way to do this is via terrorism and train their crack troops for the job in hand. 2 of them set off with the intent of blowing up the Eiffel tower and have some very funny mishaps along the way, including landing in the middle of a demonstration in Marseilles.

I agree that Amelie would be fine! The only thing I can remember that is mildly risque, is a couple of fried eggs jiggling on a hot plate suggestively ...!!

I think I must be mistaking les Choristes for something else then! (Although reading the Wikipedia summary there does seem to be a bit of physical violence in it. Will have to view it to reassure myself)

Les choristes definitely doesn't have any sexual abuse in it!

My favourite French film is Bienvenue Les Ch'tis with Dany Boon. It's hilarious, I still laugh out loud now when I think of certain bits of it (and I haven't seen it for ages).

Le Petit Nicholas and the recent sequel (can't remember). Etre et Avoir maybe, slow moving and easier to understand.

Not exactly a classic, but surely something a 14 yr old would enjoy is A Town Called Panic...? Or would that be too childish, or too surreal?

Stew - can't remember anything about sexual abuse - I know everybody's kids watched it so there cannot have been any overt scenes - maybe watch it just in case my memory fails me but I'm pretty sure it's suitable.

Hattymattie I thought of 'Les choristes' but doesn't it have a sub-theme of sexual abuse (could be confusing it with something else though given my addled brain)? Will definitely check out the other two though!
