Damaged goods

I ordered two high sleeper beds I informed the company that I could see damaged parts (not structural but chipped, scratched etc) on delivery. They asked for pictures which I sent. They then took ages to get back to me and I had to build the bed so that my kids had somewhere to sleep. The company said they would provide replacement parts for the bits that were damaged. All fine.
today they have said that they won’t as I have built the beds?!
im so annoyed as they weren’t cheap and I informed them at the point of delivery that they were damaged.

is there anything I can do?

You have a right of refund or return for damaged goods if you can return the goods in the condition they were sold in. If you've assembled the beds then they won't be in as-sold condition because where screws are tightened, soft wood becomes indented, so those parts can't be sold again.

The retailer is entitled to make a deduction for this damage if you return them. You liked the beds, and the retailer has offered to replace the damaged parts, so why not accept that, replace the damaged parts with new replacement parts, and job done!

As you did not reject the beds, you have the right to a repair or replacement. The supplier can choose which. They cannot refuse to do anything just because you have built the beds. If the repair or replacement fails, you have the right to a price reduction or you can reject the beds and receive a refund.
