Flying with 5 kids?

It looks like we might become a family of 7, with five under 8s. Has anyone flown with this number (I presume so!) and if so, how did it go? Do the airlines allow 5 kids to 2 adults??
In a bit of a panic as we're living abroad and do a lot of travelling.

I've not had as many children so can't comment on flying with 5 children, but the airlines do not restrict adult:child ratio.

So yes, you'll be able to fly. If you can pre-book/reserve seats, on a 747, most configurations are 3-4-3, so I'd recommend booking the same row, so that you're together
Eg seats ABC-DEFG
Alternatively, ABC in one row
ABC-D in the row behind.

Some configurations,like on a 777, are 2-5-2, so book a whole row if you can.

We flew this summer with 4 aged 7 and under with no issues. I think the restriction is only if you have multiple children under 2. My friend who flew with triplets aged 18 months and a 4 year old needed an additional adult. Mind you in their shoes I would have been needing an extra adults with that combination of children even if the airline hadn't required it.

I have flown with my 4 children, aged 4 & 5 & 11 & 13 and agree with what someone else said about booking a whole row, if possible. We found getting to check in really really early is the only way to ensure you sit together as some airlines do charge or don't even offer reserving seats, depends how long the flight. Some people can be quite mean about a seat they have chosen and won't give up there seat to allow you to sit as family, we had to sit behind our children on a flight last year when we where late arriving, it was pants! The children loved it tho!
