Hello - is anyone able to give me a rough idea of timescales for NHS IVF at the Nuffield/ Victoria Wing Woking - from submission of forms at Royal Surrey to first appointment?
Thanks!

I know this is an old post but i wanted to share the review i have just added to this clinic's google page. I would go with Care Woking again in a heartbeat.

This clinic is now the reason I am pregnant for a second time, we have our little boy due this December and we are over the moon.
If you are looking at this clinic please don't hesitate. As you can see below, we had two rounds at a different clinic which were not successful.
This clinic has succeeded with two out of three transfers which is an amazing success rate.
I only ever had to go through one fresh round of IVF for this, as the embryologists are so excellent at what they do.

Thank you Care for two beautiful rainbow babies.

Fantastic IVF clinic, we have our little girl thanks to this clinic.
We transferred our remaining embryos away from Care, to an IVF clinic in maidenhead, ONLY because the other clinic was closer to where we live, we naively assumed all clinics did things the same way, they don't. We have since transferred our last embryo back to Care and we are going through a cycle this month.
Their staff are wonderful and kind and can not do enough to help, within a few days of calling them I had a call with a consultant and was able to start an IVF cycle with them this month.
Please don't make the mistake I did, I can say from experience with two separate clinics, this is the clinic you want to put your trust in.

@Sparklingreality yeah kicking away and trying to learn it's normal which is not as easy as I thought it would be!

Frozen is much cheaper than fresh. I remember looking when they first changed to care.

The only thing you can't work out is drug cost because until you agree your protocol you don't know what you need.

@UnicornPuff
Yes I can’t believe how close we are now although I still don’t believe it sometimes even when I feel her moving around. Such a nice feeling. You must feel your little one moving now?

Sounds good about the hospital. Hopefully prices won’t be crazy by the time we want to go back for number 2. This was our nhs cycle so we would have to pay for the frozen transfer but I think it wouldnt be as much as a fresh one.

@Sparklingreality you are so close now! We are 24 weeks today so starting to feel really real!
It had just changed to care when we had our round and it seemed really similar. The staff had all stayed the same so the same feel. Plus talking to them, they seemed really happy with the change as when it was Nuffield everything was geared up as really general but as care is specifically fertility they said it was easier to use.
We don't want to wait too long before trying for number 2 either and will be using care again.

Hi everyone! I’ve not been around for a while but I thought it’d be nice to see how everyone is doing! I’m glad to hear that other ladies had a success with ivf. Congratulations @UnicornPuff! How many weeks are you now? I had my transfer back in July and now we are almost 32 weeks with my little girl!
How is the hospital now being under Care? Is it any better or worse than it was? I had no issues with them but already thinking about going back at some point next year for our frozen embryos and it’d be nice to know what it is like now.
Thanks xx

@MissHoney85 congratulations! Less enthusiasm for the stressful 3rd trimester but for her being here and healthy! Did you join a NCT group or similar with parents due the same time? My sister said it was brilliant to be able to message and know that someone else would be up in the middle of the night with you 🤣
I am 20+5 today and having 20 week scan tomorrow. Have had a couple of very small bleeds that scared me half to death but she is active and wiggling away a lot. In the middle of last night it felt like she was doing acrobatics and I could feel her with my hand for the first time!

@UnicornPuff thanks, actually she is already here! Last trimester was a bit stressful with a late diagnosis of Gestational Diabetes and then baby's growth tailing off, so we ended up having a C Section at 36+3. She's doing great though and 3 weeks old already! Not going to lie, it's bloody hard work, but can't complain really ☺️ Hope things are going well for you!

@MissHoney85 I hope your final trimester has been happy and healthy and that you meet your little one soon.

@MissHoney85 thats lovely news. I always imagine myself with a girl and really think this will be a girl. At the moment we are not finding out but I will potentially change my mind and not be able to wait!
So pregnancy is the training for continous worry 🤣 I feel like we all have an extra course in this with IVF!

@UnicornPuff yes we are having a girl! I always imagined myself with boys but I'm getting used to the idea. Obviously I'm just pleased that everything seems (🤞) to be going well so far.

Yes I think once you've seen that heartbeat you can start to relax a bit. The worry never really goes away though - I guess that's motherhood!

@MissHoney85 I can only imagine the stress! I have found it hard to believe and I saw them put it in! I am glad that the stress starts to decline because I am constantly worrying right now! January will come so quickly! Did you find out the sex of your baby?

@UnicornPuff thanks! Due mid January. I found the first trimester pretty stressful (probably not unusual for pregnancy after infertility) but have enjoyed the second much more. It's starting to get real now I'm going into the third!

@UnicornPuff I just looked at this thread out of interest and am so happy to see your news! We cycled at the same time at the Victoria Wing back in January and had similar outcomes. I managed to get pregnant naturally a few months later and am just about to enter my third trimester! Massive congrats to you and good luck to everyone else 🙂

@MissKittie are you having them both transfered back? And if so how do you feel about a double transfer That's? That's really exciting that you are starting again.

My scan went really well. It measured exactly to 8 weeks and had a little heart beat 💕
We have now been discharged to normal maternity!

Hi Ladies, how’s everyone doing?

@UnicornPuff hope your scan went well yesterday? Must have felt like the longest time to wait.

@duckhouse did you manage to have a fresh embryo transfer? Hope everything went well?

I’m starting our FET in a couple of days. Feeling very apprehensive as these are our last 2 frozen embryos.

UnicornPuff · 27/09/2020 11:13

@duckhouse I hope the scan goes well. Are you hoping for a fresh transfer? Have you thought about looking at other clinics that do offer PGS testing. I cant remember where I read it but I am sure that some clinics also do more investigations on repeat failure to implant. I can only imagine how frustrated you must be when everything looks good but it doesn't work. And putting it down to bad luck is pretty unfair.
Our scan is on the 14th and I am counting the days. 5 weeks 4 days today and I have turned into a very anxious person. I think I am worse than in the 2ww! My Google search is literally 5weeks.........

@UnicornPuff Yes i would know by Mon on my OHSS status and accordingly clinic would decide if i qualify for fresh transfer. Though i have been told that most likely it will be freeze all as i had 26 eggs collected which js above the cut off for a fresh transfer. My frustration with the clinic is that they always say its my bad luck that i am unable to conceive with even top grade embryo and dont think anything different can be done.

When is your viability scan ? I am sure you are counting days.. how many weeks have you completed.. fingers crossed for you xx

@duckhouse I felt better by transfer day. But I am still bloated and on/off constipated. I think that is the delightful progesterone pessaries!
Are you hoping for a fresh transfer depending on your scan on Monday? And if you are doing freeze all again will you get a consultation prior to starting. Because surely something needs to be done differently.

duckhouse · 26/09/2020 17:12

@UnicornPuff oh thats interesting to hear that there is a new consultant.. i do hope that CARE brings along some good staff with them who are experienced in multiple failure cases.

Yes i am feeling better than last time as far as i can recall. I am bloated and constipated too which is not comfortable but bloating is not as bad as it was a day before EC. Did you feel better before transfer day ? By when your body returned back to normal

Report
UnicornPuff · 26/09/2020 16:47

@duckhouse I was tired, but not sleeping all the time. I was really bloated and felt constipated. I dont remember too much pain, maybe a niggle until I tried to open my bowels and then it could be quite a sharp pain. Other than feeling tired/sleeping are you feeling ok and better than last time?
I can completely understand your loss of faith in the grading system with so many good looking embryos and none of them doing them sticking.
I noticed they had a new female consultant maybe she has different ideas. I would have thought that she would have worked at another centre before.

Thanks @UnicornPuff.. i am taking as much rest as possible and hoping to stay away from OHSS. Will go back to clinic on Monday for a scan to check for OHSS symptoms. Yes i do hope to try PSG testing at some point if possible to eliminate abnormal embryo. With my bad exp i have lost faith on grading system as all my failures hv been with top quality embryos.
Since it has been a while for me doing fresh cycle, may i ask how you felt a day after EC ? Bloated, exhausted, any pain ? I am sleeping most of the time 😐

@duckhouse good luck today. And I really hope either you are OHSS free or you are able to manage and it passes as quickly as possible.
Do you think their view on PSG testing will change once care have taken over for a while? And if so could you test the embryo after freezing?

Report
duckhouse · 23/09/2020 21:57

Thanks @UnicornPuff @MissKittie ...i am hoping the same that all goes well on friday.. dont have high hopes but having a good embryo will be a good surprise. OHSS kicks in after egg collection really.. last time i suffered for atleast 10 days but somehow managed not ending up in hospital. Lets see what happens this time.. last time i got 10 embryo fertilised fit for freezing with lots of 5 AA and 4 AA..but none turned into positive preg..dont really trust the grading and unfortunately clinic doesnt allow PSG ( even with Care rebranding)

Report
UnicornPuff · 23/09/2020 19:51

@duckhouse If you are really high risk for OHSS will symptoms start to show before or after EC? Is there anything that can be done once you are over stimulated to minimise the risk? I really hope you don't have to go through OHSS. I also really hope you get some good quality little embryos from the bunch.
